I don't mind nicknames; some of them have their charms, especially the nicknames for the Mafia. I remember there was one guy named, "Junior Lollipop". I wouldn't mess around with guy named Junior Lollipop. //laughs

and once I walked into a chatroom and due to my username was instantly titled, "Solid Snake".

I use nicknames because it's easier, a shorter version of their user name more often than not, due to typing or remembering, I rarely call anyone by their real name online. offline I use real names of course. I don't have anything against nicknames as long as they are nice, call me something bad I tend to not hang around you any.
