I notice that World Masterpiece Theater (WMT) animes don’t have much love here on MT. So I decided to open this topic and presenting them to you.
World Masterpiece Theater (Sekai Meisaku Gekij?) is a Japanese TV anime staple
that showcased an animated version of a different classical book or story each year. It originally aired from 1969 to
1997 and then it was resumed in 2007. Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata both worked on several of the series.
Those animes were worldwide-spread. At least the majority of them aired on several European TV networks more than once.
So I believe you can recognize some of the characters from the pic above. If you can’t, I believe you have read or
have heard about the books where the stories were based on.
