They're making Gundam SEED widescreen, and in HD, so my first thought was "yay!"

And then I watched the first episode earlier, at first, I was impressed. They redid the opening, made it all shiny and nice, and changed a few parts. here's a video comparison.

And then I saw

and thought omg so pretty :D :D

The episode started off well, it's nice to watch Gundam SEED in 720p.

And then I saw this

and went "UGH!"

I mean, look at it! Whoever made that, took the original lower quality image, enlarged it, and filtered it to hide the pixelation!

And that wasn't the only scene either, for a couple scenes after that, there's more like them

Thankfully, not all scenes were like that. The scenes at the end looked alright, not quite HD, but at least it didn't look filtered.

As a former MT mod, it makes me want to track down whoever did this and smack them over the head XD

I have a hate/love thing for Gundam SEED, but when I saw the thread title I was excited. The first image made me super!happy, the second one made me die inside.

Enlarging and filtering to hide pixelation, don't members here get reprimanded for those kind of shenanigans with scans?

The graphics is still kinda low quality. I think its still an enlarged version of it.
I hope they make a HD version of Gundam SEED Destiny as well.

to make an anime HD is rather hard, I can only imagine what they are going to do with it. guess they didn't get enough love the first go around and going to smack us around with it once again? sure seed was alright, but I've seen better gundam series that deserves more hd love ;) although I do have to admit to see it in hd might be a good twist, first go around it was missing something

@SolemnSerpent - yeah, some of those scenes made me die inside... enlarging and filtering is so not allowed on MT, makes me want to whack the ppl who did it over the head XD

@Arekusu-chi - it seems that some scenes they just got lazy and enlarged it, but there are some that they seem to re-draw it, like the Athrun and Kira meeting at the end of the episode. The lines look much better

@Osiris - lol yeah it'll take them at least a year to do all of the episodes.

@srsn - yeah they're basically remaking all 50 episodes of it

@angelxxuan - It was done for the 10th anniversary of the series, and I guess it's popular enough to get the funding

HD is good, but rather than re-creating the anime with little change. I'd prefer it if they make a sequel for Destiny or even better a movie <3 since up until now, I'm still wondering what happen to Athrun & Cagalli's relationship :D

Though the screenshot o Athrun & Kira up there is just to die for, but the other ones are just uhhh!

That's just my opinion though, [goes to Sunrise/Bandai and whack everyone's head for the englarged & filtered scenes.]

Also, I prefer the Mwu in the original SEED, the Remastered Mwu seems soo weird in so many ways ex. his eyes looked so empty. [just pointing it out, Sorry Maple I know you love Mwu so much T_T]
