Okay I tried the shapes layers and this is what I got.
The first one is the Original image and I did the pen tool on it but it looks like this and I don't know if it is suppose to be like that? http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/ab136/yoko020/Untitled.jpg

And this is the second one which is what it put onto a layer.
http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/ab136/yoko020/Untitled2.jpg

I believe I like the paths tool more.

use the convert point tool to make it smoother. you can my vector that I gave you, or other tutorial like this http://tsukishoujo.deviantart.com/gallery/669663#/d17rtjy
I've learnt vector with shape layers from that tutorial. Nysha's vector tutorial is definitely one of the best as well : http://missnysha.deviantart.com/art/The-Ultimate-Vectoring-Guide-129303185

paths is definitely easier, but if you're outlining, shape layers will give better results because you have pointy and more variations (thicker on one side and thinner on other side, etc) rather than using paths because you get one line and you can't make it look pointy like with shape layers. you can always practice with both method :D

Okay I'll work on them.
Here is another one I did I think I did a better job on vectoring this one.

That is definitely improvement from your older works! The lines look a lot better and the coloring is better, too. You just have master doing Bezier curves now for curvy things like hair and fingers and you'll be vectoring like a boss in no time. Keep it up! :)

Do you think I can upload that image on MT?
And thank you so much alenas!
I'm glad!

Do you think that it's good enough for me to upload on MT?

If you're talking about this one (http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/ab136/yoko020/Daichi2incolor.jpg), then I think it's still too early to submit it to MT. You need to fix those choppy lines on the hair and make them more curvy.
Also, I'm not sure if that's the actual size of the image but if it is, I think it's a bit too small. When you vector an image, always go with big images so more people could use it in their wallpapers - it's really hard to use such a small image on a, let's say 2560x1600 wallpaper.
And last - you need to color your vectors better - right now there are still some white areas in the hair that weren't colored properly - a good vector must always be outlined and colored properly - that means no white areas between colors, no color leeks (colors going beyond lineart) and lines must be crisp, clean and fit the original image perfectly.

Right now I still think you need more practice (especially with those curvy lines and colors) but you're on a good way and you've improved a lot so keep it up! :)

this is better tha the first, but prefer the shadow with the thin line and after you coloring it you can transparent it.
:D
um, i found it on net maybe you can used it

Okay, Well here is another I did, I worked on the nails and fingers like you said I needed to do.
I think it is good.

My stupid PS wouldn't let me color in her skin, I don't know why my PS didn't want to work.

that's better than the older

um, skynight if you can't used PhotoShop why you don't try to used Illustrator. I think used Ai is easier than PS.
i used Ai (Adobe Illustrator) to vectoring an image

I've looked at AI and I can't get the hang of it and I like PS, it's just my comp made the PS freeze and I had to re-start my comp.
But thank you I'm glad I'm getting better, I got other good news I'm in Th grade for 2 of my subjects in school I skipped 4 grades in a 1 year. and In math and English I need to work on those too I got Th grade for those.
But see I got a learning problem that's why it took me so long to lean how to vector.

You're greatly improving from your first vector. However a prevalent issue I'm seeing is that you're using too many anchor points resulting in 'bumpy' lines. As stated before, you need to master Bezier curves since they will give you smoother lines.

Here's a quick example I did on your latest vector (notice the red trace I've done):
http://img859.imageshack.us/img859/8095/sample1s.th.jpg

Here are the anchor points for that line:
http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/1995/sample2b.th.jpg

I use Illustrator but the technique should be the same.

yeah, cuz Ai need more of your RAM than PS.
my laptop with 2GB of RAM

can you tell me the spec of your comp ?

oh, that's great. i'm glad to hear that

definitely an improvement! though I think you used too much anchor points? sometimes it makes lines jaggier. you can keep practicing to learn how to control your anchor points so your vectors will looks smoother rather than jagged :D
Ai is software specialized for vectoring, but in PS you're probably can combine it with painting and stuffs, it depends on the user :D if you think you're doing better with PS, then you can stick with it and improve your skills ;D

you mean the trace of the pen that you use? usually if I use paths, I usually delete the lines after I stroked the paths, so from your picture, you can't edit it anymore (I think you opened the jpeg file though, or is it the psd? because your vector is set as the background). shape layers is more reliable on this part because you can edit the shapes over and over again, as long you keep it as shape layers (do not rasterize it or etc)

No I saved it as a JEPG after I vectored it and I do that with the Paths I stroked paths first then I deleted it too.

That's exactly the advantage of shape layers - unless you rasterize them, you can go back to them and change their shape and color any way you want. Once you make a path and use brush on it, that's it, you can't change it anymore. That's why shape layers are more convenient and better to work with, despite taking more time to outline the lines from both sides.

Also, one tip - when you work with shape layers, never rasterize them or save the image as .jpeg or .png until you're absolutely finished with it. Also, it helps a lot to keep the original .psd file in case you need to come back and change some things or use it as an example somewhere.

Well here is one I did today,
How do you like it?

I think I'm getting better at it.
I didn't do one for yesterday I was at the doctor's office.

color it with the pen tool as well, set the mode as shape, and color it under the outline layer, don't color it once you saved it as jpeg
anyway yes, I can see that you're getting better. keep practicing ;D
