For me I choose Alucard, Vash, and for all character with cool costumes same as those two anime.

Dias Flac from Star Ocean. coz he's so freakin emotionless, and cool looking
Bowman Jean, from same anime / manga / game. coz he's old, but he's acts yong and succeeds doing so.
Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha. coz *see dias flac*
Touya from Card Captor Sakura. coz he's just plain cool-lookin, and he's even cooler when he's angry.
Yue from Card Captor Sakura. coz *see dias and sesshoumaru*
Sanzo from Gensomaden Saiyuki / Saiyuki Reload. coz...i dont need to explain, just watch ONE episode. you'd know already
Kougaiji from Gensomaden Saiyuki. coz he's da enemy, yet he's nice, not to mention the cool fighting, sexeh hair, and sexeh clothes.
Tooya from Ayashi no Ceres. coz *see dias, sesshoumaru and yue*
Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi. coz he's just plain cool, although he's a crossdresser, i mean, he's a guy who can be a gal or a guy, and get away with it.Note : Just because i say they're cool, doesnt mean i like em.
I mean, Ashton aint in that list right?

Kenshin Himura (Rurouni Kenshin) - my fave, just because he retains every quality a true hero needs (caring side, wimpy *comic* side, the ability to....um.....KICK ASS, and is really smart)
Naota Nandaba (flcl) - a kid trying to find his way in the world
Kintaro Oe (Goldenboy) - just funny but a caring genious at the same time
Hajime Saitoh (Rurouni Kenshin) - just all around cool headed and so confident its not even funny
Nicholus D. Wolfwood (Trigun) - well developed and just all around cool
Vash the Stampede (Trigun) - need I say more
Sanosuke Sagara (Rurouni Kenshin) - cool sidekick

Alucard (hellsing) - he is just sooooooo coooooooool! He's a vampire and he's got the big guns! I mean what else can you ask for?
Amon (Witch Hunter Robin) - he is just as cool! All dark and mysterious: I mean black trench coat and all!
Sosuke (Full Metal Panic) - he is both increadibly cool when it comes to fighting and absolutly hysterical in his seriousness at the same time.
