im not addicted to anime or manga but my friend is lending me her fruits basket
mangas and mai moms freaking saying 'u cant read them on weekdays. only on
weekends.' and 'y do u read those? they arent educational' so i just wanna know
how many of u out there are being bothered like me ^_^
They're not educational? *rolls on floor laughing*
Fruits Basket gives great insite into the Japanese lifestyle. Anyway, my parents
have gotten used to the fact that I watch/read manga and anime. They used to
opose it, but seeing as I buy it with my own money they can't say anything about
it. When they did opose about it I just simply said "It helps me learn
Japanese", which is true anyway, seeing as 90% of the language I currently
know came from watching anime. Anyway, most of the stuff I watch are for the
mature audiences anyway (no, not hentai or ecchi you bakas...) and sometimes my
sisters will pop down and watch it with me too.
I can never watch anime around my parents.
My dad comes in the room halfway through a series and tries to 'bond' with me,
asking what's going on and such and what he should know so he can watch too.
And how am I supposed to explain bizarre love triangles? No. He'd probably
take it form me claiming it's wrong.
Also, there's always that 'bad' scene now and then that he's impeccible timing
for...
Manga I read behind a locked door and hide. I dare not let them find those
either.
They hate anime for the most part because it's "not american" (I live
in a hardcore republican household) and I get lots of hassle from them. So I
avoid them when I've got either.
My parents don't really care, my mom kinda likes some things like cardcaptor
sakura, fruits basket, and kaleido star. My dad likes anime and will often buy
anime dvds for me.
My parents are glad that I'm actually spending money on books and not just
useless crap. But they'd rather me read more educational books.. like literature
and history.. you know all that crap xP
the only thing they don't like is the price of manga and anime....even though i
buy it with my own money they say i should buy other stuff....the stuff that i
ask them for
otherwise they don't have nothing against it my mom thinks some are pretty and
cute and so does my dad
Well, my mom doesnt say anything about it but my dad pokes fun at some of the
names of character and the anime. Other than that, I think i kinda got my bro
and sis hooked on it.
Actually, I was the paranoid one, and until a few years ago my parents didn't
really know I wathed anime. Unfortunately, my father thinks anime is more
popular than it is, and well... Eh, I rather not get into that right
now.
As for manga, my mother's two older sisters used to read manga (we're talking
about Korea in the late 60's). Even more, my grandfather was a dentist, and his
shop was on the second floor of this one building. Unfortunately, there was a
comic shop on the first floor, and he'd spend a lot of his time there. My
grandmother subsequently got upset at him. Yeah, it runs in my family, I guess
^^;;
My mom lets me watch anime/manga. Though, time and again, she'll nag me for
spending too much time and money on them. She
still thinks that anime is equivalent to Disney cartoons.
The only complaints I take from buying manga, from my mother, is the price and
the space they take up at home, but she doesn't say anything about it being
japanese or those kind of things. My father doesn't care either, he gives me
money to buy mangas and doesn't complain about the content either.
No complaints here . My
anime collection is getting pretty big... I spent over a thousand dollars on
anime this summer alone , but I
love it so that's okay. My parents appreciate my interest in other things,
besides I'm not asking them to buy it for me lol.
Bahaha at only being able to read manga or watch anime on the weekends. Oh
dear.
Anyway, my parent has no bearing on anything I do, seing as I have my own home,
and live alone.

How old are you? Fruits basket is great, but then they are probably right, since you still need micromanagement.
hmm never thot about how it could actually be educational! haha.
o and im 13

My mom thinks some are cute. My dad just calls it JapCrap and says its gonna ruin my life.. and in all reality, it will. ^_^

Th only thing my mother hate in manga is their price because i buy myself a lot
educational....especially when it comes to language....h games and h anime....(yamete...itai
)
j/k but hey japan is home to jiant mecha anime and stuff
btw, they ARE educational, especially when teaching you how to haul ass like in GTO and how to do ranged attacks like the hadoken and stuff
my parents shut up about it when manga made me get a job ^_^

I've actually heard some people say that it's "evil". I'm a little too old for my parents to really have a saying in anything I do.
Not paranoid at all, since they dont really pay much attention to their own beloved son (which is me) lol.
