Hi everyone and a happy new year!!!
I have some questions (to those who know )to ask...
firstly i'd like to ask how can I create "mountains" on the far distact background. Is it a Plug-in or something?(I tried Terragen but it's too difficult to use)or it's just photoshop? If someone know i would be grateful if he or she could explain with few steps (or more )how can I create them...

Hope that's not to difficult to be done, huh?C ya around MT residents....!

Well, the way i make mountains is by taking a good clean image of some mountains, extracting them, go to the layers box in photoshop and while holding ctrl on the keyboard click on the layer the cropped img is on, then filling in the selection with a dark color.

Then i typically put the edited mountains in the bg, change the opacity around, transform it, and voila!! I got some nice mountiains in the distance. But that's only my way though...i'm sure there's some other better ways :\ Hope i was of some help ^^

mmm.. mountains....
it depends,... like, what kind of mountains do you want to make? a detailed one, not so detailed, or very distant (no detailings at all)
for the detailed one, I must say, terragen might be the best tool to do this, although from my experience, it's easy to create one in terragen, but it's painstakingly hard to integrate it into my sceneric walls >.<. I suggest you ask Irix about this... he's an expert in combining terragen renders and scenerics...
for the not so detailed, I use pen tool to make the outlines (pyramidal shapes) then use a soft eraser to soften and emphasize the shape, then use burn/dodge tool, and noise filter to add details,... refer to my Suzuhira Hiro wallpaper to see the example...
for the totally faraway mountains, just use pen tool to make the shape, use soft tipped eraser to shape the outlines, then add fog/brightened layer at the bottom parts, refer to GundamZZ's 'CCS-Nothing' to see the example...

Yosh!!!!~~~!!!I found A fully detailed tutorial for terragen and I already took the result that I wanted!!!thx guys!!!

Soon u ll see the results from my new "tool"...

and wtf I write on topics name..I must be blind...or somethin'

weeee everyone loves terragen. if i could id post some of my nature stuff here. but yeah if you need any help with terragen fell free to drop me a line. Heres an example of some of my terragen exploits. http://www.deviantart.com/view/13437173/

thx toastgfx!!!!!Yokatta ne!!!!!

wait guyz? do you know where can I download terragen thingy? i dunno what is terragen..

Is this a freeware? Or do you have to register eventually?

wow thanks! but it says there "register a terragen so that you can blah blah blah image sizes"

Normally I go nuts with the lasoo tool. I just go for the general shape of the mountain.

Then for the colouring, I get reference pictures of mountains, then pic colours from them and use filters to disturb the colour appropriatly. If I need to, I'll add more layers of just colour change. You'll get better results that way.

Lasso tool! thanks! But, they are many.. The polygonal one?
