Has anyone here seen or heard about a company called 4Kids buying the rights to
Tokyo Mew Mew....and how they totally screwed it up? They changed everyone's
names and gave them different attitudes...as well as adding their own dialogues
for the characters. They also invented their own ideas of who TMM is fighting
against...no longer are they fighting against aliens, they are fighting some
organization called the "Sakilon Knights" (or something like that).
Really, don't you all hate it when people go and buy rights to a good Anime
series, and then completely mess it up?! I totally hate this. 4Kids, and any
other company who does this, should remember the saying, "If it ain't
broke, don't fix it!" I'm still glad I can find anime on the net and get
it as fansubs that are relatively as close to the original as can be.
*sigh* Yes, I've watched it, it's so stupid. They call it "Mew Mew
Power", If you go to the 4kids site, you can see how they changed their
names, personalities, and a ton of other stuff. A site called Neko-Tokyo shows
how much they've changed it.
I know of some of the changes you speak of, but I thought the 4Kids version
still has them fighting aliens. At least they were last I watched it. So how
does 4Kids reconcile with the manga still published by Tokyopop?

i have Tokyo Mew Mew on video here in my stash of anime....i watch it every now
and then and this......i hate dub companys. There has never been a dub company,
in my eyes, that has actually done an excellent job at dubbing. In my p.o.v, i
feel that dubbing an anime show ruins it's original japanese uniqueness and its
original story>.<
4Kids is just that, for kids. It's the way they're doing all the anime they get
their hands on. I only watched Tokyo Mew Mew because of an Anime Music Video I
saw featureing it. They have edited the other anime they have licensed right?
I'll be suprized if they haven't.

It disgusts me too. I watched it when I was visiting my Dad in America, and I
hated it. I own up to episode 44 of Tokyo Mew Mew on DVD and I love it. I've
also got all of the manga books, and they're all so much better than "Mew
Mew Power".
What's the deal with the name changing?! If some little kid doesn't understand
the names Ichigo and Zakuro, they should either read a "Teach yourself
Japanese" book or ask their parents. If the parents don't know, then
there's always the 'magical internet'.
And also, if a kid who watches Mew Mew Power then goes into a book shop and
finds Tokyo Mew Mew manga on the shelf, they're gonna be so confused, because
their beloved "Zoey" is now called Ichigo, and is part of a group of
girls called Tokyo Mew Mew, and is in love with someone called Masaya.
Believe me, I know, my half-sister (who lives in America) did just that.
4kids has really made temselves some new enemies this time.
I wanna see this dub....simply because I have seen the subbed version and read
the books....I wanna see how they mutilated it! I think it'll be good for a
good laugh, lol.
Plus I have seen other 4kids "anime"....yeah, they destroy anime. I
don't know how they can sleep at night.

I have come to the conclusion that if an anime is aired on tv anytime during the
day before 10 o'clock pm.....it has been mutilated and cut to bits. And that's
not even commenting on the voice acting!!! *shudder*
