there are two greatly anticipated anime DVDs coming out this year: Full Metal
Alchemist (Feb. 8) and Samurai Champloo (Jan. 11). however, IF YOU CAN ONLY
CHOOSE ONE, which would you start collecting? lets analyze a little before you
start buying:
Full Metal Alchemist
PROS:
-most popular anime on
Cartoon Network
-great story & characters
-wonderful artwork
CONS:
-starter set costs more ($50)
-50+ episodes to collect
(approx. 13 DVDs/each $30)
-music not as great
Samurai Champloo:
PROS:
-made by Watanabe (Creator of Cowboy Bebop)
-fantastic music
-starter set costs less ($30)
-20+ episodes to collect (approx 8 DVDs/each $30)
-lots of samurai action
CONS:
-not as popular or mainstream as FMA
-artwork not as good
Full Metal Alchemist, I'd say. But they both will be pretty expensive to collect
considering that it seems there will only be two episodes per disc (or at least
that's truth with the first DVD.) That's kind of a rip off, but I really want to
see Full Metal Alchemist.
I'll evenutally get to collecting Samurai Champloo, but FMA is top priority
right now.
totally fma! that show is the coolest! i like heard that hiphop music or
something is used in samurai champloo. i dont even like hiphop! fma has a
beautiful story with colorful animation. the only thing im worried about is that
once i start collecting the DVDs, its gonna turn out to be like 400 bucks! i
better break open my piggy bank ^_^
i agree with pAdamsk on the part about the artwork. Samurai Champloo is the DVD
im going to start collecting on january 11th. ive been waiting for another
masterpiece by watanabe (maker of cowboy bebop) and this is going to be the next
big thing. im betting though, that alot of people are going to say FMA. but hey,
bebop wasnt as popular as first either. in fact, FMA kinda (no offense to FMA
fans) reminds me of Pokemon. you know, people adventuring to other places.
helping towns on the way; dull jokes here and there; and less and less action as
the show progresses. also, in my opinion, its going way too far with 50+
episodes in the series. id stick with Samurai Champloo's 20+ DVDs (less to
buy).
i haven't seen enough of fma to judge, so i'll just go with samurai champloo
since i've seen more of that one. haha. ^^; but, even if fma is more popular,
i would dread to see the dubbed version of samurai champloo. =___=;; no offense
to dub lovers. i don't take as much interest into fma because like said, it has
a lot of episodes and samurai champloo(for the most part) gets more to the point
and doesn't really drag along with the storyline. even if some of the episodes
weren't needed in the anime, i still enjoyed it because they didn't do it every
so often. ^^; plus i love the animation in samurai champloo, it doesn't at all
seem rushed. ^^ to me at least.
samurai champloo, suckas! once i hear about watanabe making a new show, ill come
runnin! this show reminds me of cowboy bebop, one of my favorite animes. come on
peeps, it has hip hop music and samurai! how can you go wrong! i KNOW that alot
of chumps out there are gonna pick the cutsey wutsey alchemist crap. but hey,
cowboy bebop started at the bottom of the bottle too. it mixed jazz and
futuristic cowboys and nowbody liked it at first. i expect the same for samurai
champloo. thats why im buying the DVD, no doubt.
I love both animes! But I'd go with Samurai Champloo. Shinichiro Watanabe is a
friggin genious! And I have to differ with you, I like the artwork of Samurai
Champloo more and the characters are just awesome (like Bebop).
But FMA has a tremendous plot, the story is very, very interesting. But still,
if I had to collect one I'd go with Samurai Champloo in a heartbeat.
=) samurai champloo is they way to go and i would have to agree with the other
people certainly FMA has a plot but its been dragged out for 50+ episodes and
some episodes is just plain boring (ducks and dodges flying objects) while on
the other hand samurai champloo has a great story with great humour with awsome
artwork =) so if i was to get my money's worth i'll go with samurai champloo
I would have to say Fullmetal Alchemist then again iv never seen Samurai
Champloo. But even if I did id most likely chose FMA anyways. Why? Cause it
owns thats why.
is not being popular in the main streem really a con? is being the most popular
on ctn, really a pro? i mean..whats that have to do with how much you actually
like the show?....wait a second...further more..why are you polling us? its not
a popularity contest...just chose the one you like...or, if your like me, and
like both of them, but are poor as hell, then chose champloo....
uh, to actually answer the question at hand, i liked both shows alot, but have
only seen the first few fma epps, so i would have to choose champloo, at least
untill i have seen a little more fma
Quote by claudiusi agree with pAdamsk on
the part about the artwork.
Thank you. And I noticed a couple other people noting that Champloo's artwork
was better, in their opinion. (Because on matters of art style, it's all about
personal opinion)
Of course, in the end it's your own decision, whichever you choose. I just don't
see either of the CONS listed for Champloo actually applying, unless how
mainstream an anime is really effects your choice. ^_-
Samurai Champloo. Why? Because FMA is crap. If you've seen the whole series you
would agree it had a lot of potential but didn't bring it out. For one thing,
the end could and should of been lessed rushed, and more complete.
Samurai Champloo hasn't all been released yet, but just watching it thus far, it
has been exiting every episode. That anime is awesome and super funkie. Even
makes me like the music. Quality stuff.
Anyhow, If it's about the money, if you're going to buy something just make sure
you have enough to buy as it's released. You would hate to have run out of money
before buying the last DVD :P
I've never seen Samurai Champloo so I can't really say that I'd buy it. As for
Fullmetal Alchemist, I'd buy the entire series...but I'd probably only watch the
first half of the series to watch Hughes in slow motion

Totally Samurai Champloo. That show is so great. ^^
And Kandle, I have to disagree with you. I enjoy the artwork much more than the art in FMA.

Full Metal Alchemist in my own opinion. Samurai Champloo is ok, but it's not really on my top anime list.
I'll go for Full Metal Alchemest hands down!!

FMA most likely i didn't like SC enough to buy it anyway

after reading all the opinions (so far) i am leaning a little towards Samurai Champloo. does anybody else want to have a say in this?
Definitely FMA!!!
Samurai Champloo was SO badly animated, and the music was horrendous....
I've never seen Samurai Champloo so I can't really say that I'd buy it. As for Fullmetal Alchemist, I'd buy the entire series...but I'd probably only watch the first half of the series to watch Hughes in slow motion
FMA! Champloo's not done yet!
