do u think they're just both stupid? made up? there just to satisfy human kind so they have answers to things they can't explain? or at the time can't explain! there are many things in the bible that have been proven wrong... or almost will be proven wrong. please dont be offended by this if ur religious.. ^_^;

I don't know because i am not religious but having an imaginary friend is kinda dumb because those are for kids to believe even though having an imaginary friend is fake.

i am religious, even though, as you say, some things have been proven wrong, it doesnt matter. i believe its a mystery of god and we humans arent entitled to know 100% of the truth..
maybe 80%.... hehe..

as for imaginary friends? err...
do people DO that anymore? O__o

oh well, at that sorta things, i keep an open mind ^_^

I think they are bolth brilliant. Their only failing is our inability to see them at the core. or at lest thats my take on them.

Aren't they both the same?

I agree. God is just an imaginary friend for the adults

I'm not religious in any way, but saying they're stupid is sort of... offensive to some ;P May want to word it a bit differently next time as opposed to going all-out and then asking them to not be offended ;)

i do think they are both made up, since science can disprove many religious events. I just think that people may have been more gullible in the past and lacked the understanding we have today. They were amazed by a "miracle" and passed it onto their children.

i am religious. but i am not in belief of a god. my religion is not that common. more offense is taken through the generalization of what religious is through your statement. also, people are different, and we live our lives in the way we know how. please try to respect this difference. if someone believes in something, then it is real for them, it may not be real for you. try to understand this.

There is nothing wrong about imaginary friends....Grrrrr  :)

Not stupid to argue over when people take either of them seriously.

sry for the offense taken to u guys (did i word that right) well... i actually dont really think religion is stupid to argue over... cause we kinda are now? lol. but i do believe its fake. nad i should have specified religion to christianity mainly because of the belief in jesus. even tho im christian i dont believe in it... im forced to go to sunday school. i do respect all your guys beliefs tho. really sry!!
im just saying that have u ever thot about mebe that religion was made to staisfy humans... so that they have an explanation to things they dont really know? for example the believed that god created humans, starting with adam and eve. but ever think of evolution? i know it sounds stupid that we evolved from apes or monkies... but once u look at the facts its obvious that it really is true. i mean... 98 percent of our DNA is the same.
and how about the fact that that the sun and all the planets revolved around the earth. well thats deffinetly proven wrong by now. can't think of ne more examples but im sure there are many more. ^o^

and that so far is my favorite post of the board

Discussing religion is anything but "stupid." I think that people are missing the entire point of religion - it is just as much about people as it is about whatever divine entities a particular religion believes in. "Arguing" about religion (at least above a "MY GOD CAN KICK YOUR god's ASS) is a combination of moral philosophy and theology.

In any case, if you think the Bible is "disproven," you are again completely missing the point. The Bible is not a science book; it is a book on issues of faith, morals, and theology. To use but one example, the message of Genesis not "God made the world in seven days, and on the first day...," but rather, "The universe was created by God and all of it is inherently good." In this interpretation, evolution and creationism need not be mutually exclusive. One could, for instance, say that all of creation, from the (from our current understanding) almost miraculous formation of the first life according to the "primordial soup" theory to its ultimate conclusion - humanity - was a process brought about and continuously monitored/steered by God.

Nicely put Rebel.

Ditto here.
I think it's stupid to argue over such stuff when the people you're talking to are the extreme opponents of either side. Someone who devoutly believes in God (I'm Christian by the way) and someone who devoutly believes that God doesn't exist trying to convince the other that their viewpoint is the correct one is stupid. Neither side will convince the other by human means (sorry my religious side coming out here). Same goes for imaginary friends. How do you convince someone who genuninely believes in one that their friend is imaginary? That's what I call a pointless and stupid argument.
Just my $0.02 on the matter. *Gets off soapbox* :D

*glomps Rebel* My, you're turning into one of my favorite persons in MT.

Right. I think religion is some sort of a guide. Not really something you must have absolute faith in but something that can help and influence you in decision-making. So yeah, if you take it literally, it will really sound fake. Ya have to read between the lines.

About imaginary friends... alright, no contest here. Fake, fake, fake.
(But having one is a blast!)
