Hey guys, I just want to know one thing..

I want to know how you guys do these awesome vector images for your wallpapers. Like this one for instance, http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/90525/

See how Ed looks? I want to know how to make the pictures like that for my wallpapers. It looks very nice and decent. It just looks so clean-cut ~ lol. Any help will be gladly appreciated. Oh by the way, I use Photoshop CS.

Hey luckcharm... You 'kay... :)

I did a couple of vectors myself... :) ... So I will try to help out the best I can... I know how hard it can be in the beginning... :D

I see that you use ps... I'm going to give you some links to tutorials... some are for Illustrator but it should be almost the same since both have the pen tool... :)

Well.. I think those are highly informative... But if you have any doubts... I'm more than happy to help out... :) ... Hope you have fun ... Take Care... ... Bye, Bye :waves:

i used inkscape for my fisrst vector
i loaded the source pic to the bg and redrwan the lines

That wallpaper looks like they used a tablet to redraw Ed.... man I wish I had one of those! :( I usually just use the pen tool in Illustrator and so my lines don't vary in width like that.

Thank you very much for the help guys!! This tutorial is pretty similar to how to CG a fan art. Im just worried around the curve parts because im scared i'll mess up big time ~ lol.

when i use pen tool in photoshop, i usaly put dots only on the corner and make a new dot between two dots, and so i can make easyly a curve by moving the middle dot.
I, myself, don't draw picstures, (maybe later :) ) i only restore bad quality pics with this method.

I've never been a fan of vectors but I had to reconsider my opinion after seeing some of Tama-Neko's works and the works of other wallers here at Minitokyo... they pretty much convinced me that vectors can really be wonderful artworks, so I guess I'll look for some tutorial and start to learn vectoring :)

Can anyone please give me some tips on the outlines? Im having a lot of problems with them. I can't get to set a curve right on the lines...they always end up really corroded ~ lol.

first put dots only on the corner of an outline and when done, look for vector lines that crosses curves of an outline, and make new dots in the middle of the line by Add Anchor command (right click on the vector line with the white arrow and choose Add Anchor) , and by moving this dot you can make a curve that has no corners

I have made a detail tutorial for vectoring but in my langugage (Croatian), at least you can look at the pictures that shows step by step how to vector

Look at my wallpapers, if you think they are well done :) i can make an english translation
of the tutorial.

... Yeah... They are a little hard to grasp if you aren't used with the pen tool... Maybe you could try those tutorials... They teach you the basics about using the pen tool and making curve... :)

Hey Kizuki... I have to agree with OuTMaN... Your work looks really good... :) ... Don't worry if you think that's not looking right at first... :) ... You will improve with time... The only advice I can give you now is to practice, practice and ... lol ... practice... :D ... Before you can notice... vectoring is good to be soo easy... :D ... Well... better go now... :) ... Take care... :waves:
