Yup. Happened to me, two times. I AM NOT HAPPY!
The problem is, this author is someone I know and I don't want to anger her. I
also happen to know that she has a habit of copying slightly from her favorite
authors, and she didn't COMPLETELY plagerise, just changed the character's
names, edited it, and added some scenes. I can't bring myself to tell the site
hoster about this abuse because I am afraid she might never be friendly with me
again! Geez, it's not like a teenage girl has enough problem! ANd no, this is
not some kind of internet relationship problem because I am a female and she is
a female and I am not lesbian.
Well it would depend on how much she changed. I wouldn't have a problem if
someone took my premise and used it for their fanfiction...like a retelling of
the same story. But if she basically took everything you had and just changed a
few words I would have a problem with it.
Also, did she contact you about possibley using your plot? She should have
regardless and if she didn't you should tell her that you would like her to make
sure she does should she decide to do it again. Also have her credit the plot
to you as well. If it is her work around your plot she shouldn't have a
problem with it...

well I dunno..it really does depends...
because if it's a fanfiction plot that I spend a lot of time on of course I
would get furious but I would kindly ask how she/he got it and tell her/him that
I had the same idea and hopefully I would ask how her/his would end up and I
would tell her/his would end up..and see if they end up differently then I guess
it's okay...even though now I spoil my whole fanfiction bleh!
You have the right to report it. Sure, you'll upset her but in the end you'll be
even more upset if you see the story she stole gained loads of fans. After all,
it's your idea. Came out from your brain
cells. You did all the thinking. And all she did was some minor chang here and
there. How in the hell you could let her get away like that?
wow, that's kind of sheizy. Well keep in mind that, unlike physical inventions,
intellectual property is protected by copyright law as soon as you create it.
So legally your story is your story. No idea how far that stretches since it's
a fan fiction... but anywho, definately express your discomfort if it bothers
you. And try to remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. This
other author must think you're just amazing. Tell her that "the great
one" does not approve ~_^

This is the first time I have
seen you never acted liked saki - in a sense. lol - Unreal @_@ I need to start
browsing more often. lol
Well plagerism is obviously frowned about in our school, which is why I never
want to give any of my ideas on the net if someone was to copy my own.
Actually someone did borrow my notes one time and burned it on his CD and I had
to report to the professor about it, which gave him a pretty big shot at his own
pride and ego and made him look like a petty thief. The guy deserved it - and
finally they laughed at him - and my work got the justice it deserved. It was my
project and some creep pushes in to steal it away. I was not quite happy but
since I knew everything inside out, I edited it and made it much better than the
original. No more handing notes over and being the nice girl. lol - I wasn't
quite happy with the results and lack of effort that comes into their mind - and
he didn't even bother reading it or changing the words - which made him even a
lazier creep than I imagined. @_@ - Oh well, the past is the past but I see why
you are so frustrated as well. lol
All I can say is probably not to post this stuff on the web and keep it hidden
in a private folder. **Nods** There's nothing you can do since the damage has
been done - I guess you've learned a pretty vital lesson yourself and these
things happen just quite too often. Shame indeed. Oh well. Take care. lol

wrote the story, I didn't mean to hurt anybody's feelings. I just thought it'd
be a site for friends to visit and stuff. I'm not making any excuses for what I
did, and I'm not angry at all. I jsut want to apologize if I offended you in
anyway. And if you think that my story has a little copycat here and there,
please let me know so I can fix it.
