You can never expect everyone to like everyone, there has been, and will always
be differences and such things that people dislike and even hate each other
for.
And some people like to have their prejudice, and some might just say prejudiced
things but they do not mean it (like myself).
And prejudice tells people how everyone already is, so you don't need to ask

But I've had my share of the real kind of racists and even nazis from my real
life. The stupidity of such people is still beyond my understanding..
First of all, I would like to note that while such a problem exists, from my
experience it is one that is limited to a small portion of the entire community;
the majority of people here on Minitokyo are people who are on a whole friendly
and acceptant (or at least I would like to think so).
However, among those few who do perpetuate less tolerance, I do not feel that
the problem is limited to racism, but to discrimination in general. In plenty
of threds are there posts that simply radiate with irrational dislike for people
not only of differing nationalities, but people of different religious beliefs,
political beliefs, sexual orientation, ideologies, and the like. I truly wish
that people would accept and set aside these differences and recognize, as
montiel pointed out, that we are here because we share something in common
rather than dwell upon that which set us apart.
I ask then that members of Minitokyo recognize that the community is made up of
people with extremely diverse backgrounds and accept that there is more than one
way to look at different situations and different issues. You do not have to
accept those views, but you need only recognize that they exist and may carry
the same weight.
Racist comments are posted through anger. Otherwise, for the most part, everyone
converses under friendly terms regardless of race. However, if there is a
particular member who someone doesn't like, they will tend to avoid that member.
That's normally how it goes.
You would think that people here would be more liberal. Anime is a media that
the very conservative Japanese have used to broach topics and ideoligies that
were taboo to thier society. It seems to me that if people here appreciate
anime, they too would be open to it's themes, that include racism, sexism, and
ect... I'm not looking to offend anyone who has previously posted in this
thread, but you sound like your making excuses for the behavior. I'm totally
with MOnTieL, Be Proud! I'm Proud! We are all a product of millions of years
of heritage, evolution and above all the love of our parents.
ive never seen racisim in MT so far but i think racisim i tself is stupid. to be
honest with everyone i am a miniority, and really is hurtful when people say and
think that sterotypes towards all minorties are true

I agree with you MOnTieL. No matter who we are we shouldn't for get that where
all here becasue we all love anime.
But things like that are still around and we can't do anything to change it. It
is only if that person that can change themself. But that shouldn't be the
reason why we leave MT. Even though there's members like that there still very
good people here on MT.

No offense, but you should see the number of
terrible threads out there that clearly fit this category. Unfortunately, I am
not fond of these ideas as well, but I'm not entitled to say anything because it
would be robbing them of their forum posting freedom, so I clearly turn out a
blind eye on topics I hardly am interested in. If it was clearly offensive, I

And for the minority... yeah, especially in society. If you don't agree with the
public views, you'll get shot down for it. This just occurs way too often in

True enough, but the electronic stupidity is a lot easier to escape like I said,
just click and it is gone from in front of your eyes. Also two, I think that the
youth of today (c'mon, I'm 28) are a lot less affected by it. True enough it
still exists, but it is easier to ignore and it is nowhere the strength that our
parents and grandparents had to endure. Besides which, it seems that the acts of
racism and vandalism associated with such, are merely acts of rebellion less
than actual acts of hatred for another creed or race. At least in my experience.

in alot....i stoppped because i really got my feelings hurt....Montiel, i
completely agree...i was just as shocked as you are....i thought that people who
liked anime would be more on the open-minded side...but there's so many people

reasons...whatev, im proud of my people(s) too, and knowing that there's folks
out there who waste energy on hating me for what i am makes me even more

Sometimes people say something prejudiced without really realizing it. I guess
some opinions based on personal experience are so deeply embedded that sometimes
it just slips out without considering that it might hurt or offend someone. I
know that at least one person who posted in this thread posted something rather
prejudiced (if he/she was serious, that is). Of course, I guess some prejudiced
comments could just be jokes made in bad taste or sarcasm.
I join MT not very long time, still I neva see racist offending happen. I think,
racist of coz is no good. Human should respecting each other but no hurting
others, what I really hope is MT dun have such things happen. At least we have a
peaceful atmosphere to communicate with each other. just my 2 cents. ^^

it's sad but true that racism still exists... but the extent of racism that i've
seen on MT has been pretty minimal... i've seen quite a few posts on my threads
(but that's cuz they were about race) that are somewhat discriminatory. one
thing that kinda bugs me...it's not really racist/discriminatory because i'm
pretty sure most of the ppl that write it aren't racist, but whenever i see
"jap" posted anywhere... it's kinda like a blow to the stomach.
