In terms of pure entertainment and fun I would go with Harry Potter. But LOTR
goes much deeper, and the books are so more complex and beautifully written
compared to Harry Potter.
I hate Harry Potter! But I can't stop reading the damn books! It's the worst
thing ever, I'm constantly telling myself how horrible a character Harry is and
how stupid he can be, how he relies on everyone around himself and all that, but
I just can't stop reading the books! Damn you, Rowling!
But... the first Lord of the Rings was undeniably boring to me. Meh, the second
two made up for it though. ^^ Yay Lord of the Rings!
They are very different. We can not comparate. I like Tolkien, I think that he
was a genius, because he created a new world with him imagination. But I think
that Harry Potter is a great book too. In the actuality we need new books that
they create a new thought of dreams and magic. So the answer is ... Harry Potter
and Lord of the rings!! Bye...
they're both nice, but book wise, i'll say that HP is more engaging. it took me
a long time to make it through the first and second books of LOTR, and i'm still
not done with the third O_O
when it comes to substance, definitely lotr..damn the books were ten times
better than the movies.read it twice already..but i'm a big fan of hp too..read
all five books, purely entertaining..
The lord of the rings is poor respect to violence, there are movies more violent
that those.
Even when I didn't like at all none of these options, I pick the lord of the
rings, because I liked the art direction, production design and the amazing
takes.
The story, on both cases, (HP & tlotr) is poor, or porrly adaptated.
None convinces me.
Tolkien was an amazing writer but Rowlings is getting better as well.
Both works are engaging in their own ways and possess some deep and mature
content if one wants to look for them....With that said, I do hope you are
comparing the books and not just the movies. Either cases, Tolkien and LOTR win
my vote any day of the week.

also like the monsters better and the better action/stunt scenes(these are
purely my opinion so if you think HP has better action scenes don't get mad at
me). Besides I like Orlando Bloom and the guy that played Arragorn.

Less for kids and more engaging storyline...
But Harry Potter isn't bad either...

i used to like both, when they were just books and not movies. but i dont like them as much anymore, since they got turned into fads.

Obviously movies r more violent than games... Movies allow more stuff to be done, therefore more violence..
I think both of those games have bad graphics... but i like lord of rings better. It is *unique* features... and a variety of stuff..
Harry Potter, is pretty much all the same... U get spells and caste them...
