First and foremost, people have been way too damn touchy if someone new brings
up an old topic on a new thread. They are rude and frankly give the rest of us
MT-er’s a bad rap.
I’m asking you guys to think before you
type. The people on the other side are people just like you and they have
feeling as does everyone else.
Secondly, I have heard that more than a few people have had a problem with some
us elder ones and our adult humor. I understand that and that is a legitimate
complaint – if you bring it up to us.
Otherwise nothing will change if you whisper behind our backs
– so to speak. So if you have a problem with
our adult/dirty humor, please let us know and we will see what we can do so that
everyone is happy *Smiles*

*Snickers* yeah I have a hard time reining in my humor at times, and this thread
wasn't directed at anyone specificly, hell I can't even think of anyone
specificly - it is more to the general Mt'ers. I just figure that we're all
came here for anime and that it is the art and the friends that keep us!
*Smiles* So why not sort out differences with a level head *Smiles*
that's the reason why this dirty old man sometimes find quite hard to survive in
mt...

Yes!!! i totally 101% agree with you... juz a small bunch of people do not know
the most basic common courtesy... and i find them really rude and immature when
shut off the thread and deletion of wallie... they might come out with impolite

i agree, my apologies if i have offended someone for all those who know me know
i mean no disrespect but sometimes these threads made get u thinking and u
forget that mt is a wide age ranging community so i will try to keep that in
mind when i post.
To the people that post already made threads sometimes they forget to check who
knows just be tactful and let them know what the deal is and don't go postal and
be cool like Jheiracks has been saying.
the problem in particular I find is that often the thread is very old. On most
forums, necomancy (reviving long dead threads, such as ones 35 weeks since the
last post) is a big no-no. This can be confusing for n00bs.

Still, just coming onto the sight - it doesn't occure to you to do research
about a topic you want to discuss. I mean no matter who you are isn't that
asking a bit much? An I am refering to topics they don't see on the first few
pages. After all isn't this a site for the fans?
Also, a question for those of you who do have a problem with dirty humor - are
posts in each others (others of us who have naughty little thoughts) bother you
guys or is iit when we post on the threads in general?
Well as a noobie myself, I didn't think to use the search button. But I do see
topics started and then a few posts down someone would say something a little
nasty, and not even post a link to the original thread. I was put off a little,
because not only are you being rude, you aren't even helping. But as with all
forums- it happens.
As for the dirty humor, it really doesn't bother me, but there are younger kids
on here and they may be a little sensitive to it.
In the case of reviving old threads, how about locking them after a period of
time. Or just sticky a topic that seems to always come up.
rofl, hey sexy thanks for the thread Like
some of the old timers here, our humor isn't excatly rated PG for some of the
kiddos, so I guess it does restricit us on our speech. I find it funny that we
can make fun anything, like bashing political leaders, parents, religion, but
somehow when it comes to topic about sex, it becomes a no no. I guess we still
have a long way to go, people talk about having a sense of decency when it comes
to the taboo topic, but it is part of life, turning a blind eye to it won't
make it disappear.
As for the dup thread, I guess it can't be help, people are just too lazy to do
searches, there is where the mod comes in to close the thread. It is a problem
that won't go away anytime soon.
I don't see a problem with reviving an old thread if discussion is still to be
had. Just because a memeber wasn't here to participate in the thread in its
heyday doesn't mean they should have to sit out of it completely> Some sites
don't like the bumping of old threads, I don't see a problem with it.
What I don't like is seeing the same thread 4 times over because people are too
lazy to use the "Search" tool. This is rampant on another forum a
frequent, where people make a recommendations thread about a certain series when
a search would give you 5 threads discussing the exact thing. Search before you
post, save us all time and energy.
But I also do not like people who are disrespectful to said lazy members. What
I normally do when I see a duplicate thread is give them a link to the ones I
searched for. That way they can have there question answered or topic
discussed, but still not have to need an additional thread. Being disrespectful
is unacceptable anywhere, both online and in real life; there is no excuse for
it.
As for the humor portion, I don't really know what you are reffering to (as
honestly I don't frequent this forum much) but I doubt I would have a problem
with whatever it was. As long as the thread is still ontopic whats wrong with
a bit of humor?
I believe that respect and courtesy need to be constant in each of our posts. We
are all human beings here and although age/experiences differ, we have still a
lot to learn from one another. I don't have a problem posting/reviving older
threads just to kick it once more if it does interest me. Whoever follows is
doing so on their own accord and it doesn't mean it had to be outlawed.
We all need to remember we were once n00bs and I do trust we would not have been
here long if some courtesy was not shown to us at that time. We make mistakes,
we learn from them and we move on to continue contributing to MT. Nothing wrong
with that.
It is true that on my part I do tend to forget the difference of age between
members sometimes but there are no ill will or nods in what I do/post. We should
consider this but never forget that as a community, it does also mean there will
be a variety of people posting along with us. We are all fans here and extending
a polite post when they did wrong goes a long way.
As far as our mature/adult jokes/posts, I will not want to excuse myself for
being who I am but I will expect any possible offensive remarks done from my
part to be brought to me in a respectful and polite manner. There will never be
a need to flame nor will there be a need for me to bring something negative
against someone for the public to see. PMs are there for that and we should be
able to resolve any misunderstandings through PMs. If that does not work, I'll
ring the bell of Shinzengumi or other moderators after talking and getting
advises from Elite members.
There will always be an amiable solution when both parties want to keep our
community to go on in a serene manner. Again, this is my opinion.
PS
Thanks for the good thread "El Sneakering" Jheiracks
Well... uh... If you will talk about the same things over and over again, it
gets annoying. Plus, people have stated expressly many times to search for a
thread before you start a duplicate.
I always try to point it out not so bluntly, but some people can't help but be a
bit curt after seeing the same thing happen a few hundred times over.
Okay I must have missed a lot. I was unaware of the big break out of
individuals having a problem with sex jokes/discussions/etc. But for those who
have, it would be a lot simplier to just move on from the thread and find
something that fits you better. Its not like the people who say these things
are directing them at you.

You're right about that one
Jheiracks, if someone does create a new thread on an old topic, all another
member has to do is to politely point them in the right direction by giving them
the URL link to the old thread and by suggesting that they try using the search
tool to look for any existing threads before they create one of their own, by
doing things this way, nobodies feelings are bruised... there's no need to be
rude to each other.

I have heard from a few sources that all of the negativity against the
adult/dirty jokes were made in a sort of hush, hush manner. An to get it out
there in the open and deal with the situation I figured that a thread on the
topic was the best route. An I agree with you. I think those who do not like
the dirty jokes should go into a different room but then there is the argument
that it is a free site and people should be free and feel comfortable anywhere
they wish to . . . hover? *smiles* Anyways, just my thought, any other
suggestions or ideas?

Hmm, i havent seen this adult humor u speak of.. well not yet at least. I'm sure
the younger members might have a problem with it, or maybe even some older
members worried about the young ones.. its only natural. When you say someone
should 'leave the room' if they dont like dirty jokes.. if they came into that
'room' not expecting to hear dirty jokes, they probably had a reason to come in,
perhaps they stay because of the reason they originally came in.. If they have a
problem with the jokes, they probably thought it'd be rude, or out of place, to
complain.. im not sure why they deside to complain behind ur backs, if i
understand u correctly. Im not sure if ur talking about stuff on the forums or
some place else, but if there are younger ppl viewing.. that should be taken
into consideration before making such comments.

I agree with you partiall and do see your point. I myself have been trying to
tone it down - especially since my dirty humor is just a part of me - I think
that as a basic dirty humor in the rooms meant for it and on gb of people you
know is just fine - I think - as much as I have been trying to do - that if we
continue that route than people would feel more comfortable. Also, the fact
that people would feel rude by saying to someone that that person made them feel
unconfortable is an understandable dilema - but it does not excuse their own
fear of a difficult outcome much merit - people here don't mean to offend . . .
. well, most don't anyways . . . . and by bringing something up via PM then no
one is embarassed and it is kept somewhat confidential. *Smiles*
*down right laughs*
You continuously concider yourself to be old. My friend your making yourself
older than you are.
Anyways, I do agree there isn't any need to be rude about the messed up threads
and such. It's just a mistake. But I guess it does get irritating seeing the
500th thread based on Samurai Champloo or who heard about FF Advent Children.
@_@'
About the adult humour. That's hilarious. I do know that there are many younger
members here on MT (I guess i'd be concidered one of them ) but
I think if you give a good warning every now and then before they read that
might help. And then if that doesn't work there are always private messages and
such. Anyways I'd love to get deeper into the issue but I've got to run.
*Snickers* I'm 21 and comparitively speaking to many of you I'm old *winks*
Still, trying to take matters into ones own hands and do what they think is best
is something that doesn't make you old simply mature :]
Hmmm... wasn't there another thread like this one before??
(just kidding)
I really don't see what the big deal is with that,
although the "adult humor" thing is a valid issue indeed.

It does seem like many people are getting too angry and rude over such a small
thing like Duplicate threads, all you have to do is tell them to be sure to
search and see if the thread already exists. I don't think that they have to be
so touchy, it's probably better to be nice because everyone on MT still have
emotions no matter what angle you look at it...

It does seem like many people are getting too angry and rude over such a small thing like Duplicate threads, all you have to do is tell them to be sure to search and see if the thread already exists. I don't think that they have to be so touchy, it's probably better to be nice because everyone on MT still have emotions no matter what angle you look at it...
I agree with you, if people have a problem with it they should just ask the posters nicely to not use "adult humor". Otherwise it would seem like it didn't bother anyone because no one stepped forward to say that it offended them
