yes another site with ripping wallpaper like its everyday thing. This time its saiyaman.info. Go to the gallery here and ya can see many wallpaper ripped.

now the thing is, the uploader is SaiyaMan. seeing the name is the same as the domain and the member status says "admin", you guyz think how stupid can some ppl be. there wasnt any description given, but still, uploading without permission is what we all call 'rip'.

so anyone up to bashing an admin?

I guess more and more sites have been gathering all of our wallpapers and not knowing it's rip or either they did this on purpose to drag in people to their sites >_>
they just don't appreciate the efforts we put into every wallpaper we make and just rip them and make it sound like it's their work! YAY!

fyi,
Saiyaman is one of the biggest raw media provider in the web...
lots of fansubber groups got their raw materials for videos and what nots from there....
I bet he wouldn't be an easy person to negotiate.... but I hope he's not as stubborn as zdenek

Well, I've found the admin's profile on the site, but the email address is hidden. I can't find any way of contacting them short of registering an account. Any ideas, or should I go ahead and register?

hmm.... I think you should try registering there and post somthing in their forums... because that's the only way if he doesn't publish e-mail address...

Go ahead and register. If that's the only way to contact them, it's the path you'll have to take.

If they don't like angry mods from other forums coming in and expressing their discontent, they can stop ripping.

haha yeah. saiyaman beside l33t-raws are the biggest raw provider I know. but still, a rip is a rip. =/

Guys. . . let's step back and think about what exactly we are doing now. If we want to prevent anyone from posting any wallpapers made on Minitokyo anywhere on the Internet, then we might as well just give up now. Think about it. . . wallpapers can so easily get tossed up onto websites or packaged for distribution via torrent, and there really isn't a way for us to stop that.

We need to focus a little. . . if wallpapers are posted elsewhere, that shouldn't be a problem. It's only when others claim that the wallpapers are their own work when we should drop the hammer. I say this only because I'm starting to get the feeling that there are members trying to embark upon a crusade to prevent /anyone/ from posting or distributing their works without express permission. Maybe I'm just hallucinating, but if my perception is correct, then it's time to get your heads out of the clouds.

Sorry if I sound mean or anything, but I'm trying to be as realistic as possible.

Shinsen, you have a good point...we're never gonna vanquish everyone. That doesn't mean I won't try. ^_^ I know that I'll never be able to keep people from uploading our walls to their site. It's still wrong though, and I'll do my best to stop it. Whether or not I succeed, who knows. But I want to do my duty for MT members by protecting their walls as much as I can. ^^

Ah, idealism...ain't it fun?

It's not that because we can't win we shouldn't try. Rather, we need to choose our fights more carefully. Hongfire by definition, for example, is just a place where people will post things anime-related that they have accrued over their time online. Few, if any, members are the actual creators of works they submit whether in the galleries or torrent listings.

So rather than attack Hongfire, Saiyaman, and other such sites, why not work with them and try to hammer out an understanding with them? As long as credit is given where credit is due, everything should be just peachy. . . and we can consider it free advertising too. If people do claim the work of MTers as their own, however, then we shall smite them. But if we just blindly fight on idealistically and try to conquer the world, we may very turn the world against us and make it even harder for us to see justice prevail.

and i know Shinsengumi does have a point....we truly cannot stop anyone from posting MT wallpapers on different sites.....but the least thing they can do is to ask for permissions and/or to put some sort of credits also?
but in reality...it isn't really so...'_'a....kinda sad

I personally don't mind much if somebody put my walls on some other sites, as long as they don' claim ownership over it, and as long as my signature still intact in the wallpaper. That's just me and my own personal attitude.
B U T
lots of other members have different reactions towards rippage... most of them work hard on the walls and they think it's wrong to have somebody else post them in some other places... I totally support them, and I will curse anyone who did that ripping.

The point is, I think the person who is responsible for the uploadings the walls to other sites should ask the original authors for their permissions first.... that's not a hard thing to do, and that way, noone will feel bad about it.

I agree with Korgano; while some don't mind their wallpapers being redistributed as long as credit is given, the majority of members here do mind, as can be seen in some of the other ripper threads. ^^

That's all well and good, but what about the person who downloads the wallpaper from the person who uploaded it. . . and decided to go ahead and upload it to yet another website? Or what about someone who torrents a batch of Minitokyo wallpapers? In all honesty, if we made that kind of requirement, we wouldn't be able to enforce it, and there is nothing weaker than a requirement that cannot be regulated.

Addendum: In short, I think people need to re-evaluate their expectations of interacting in the greater sphere of the Internet. What we should do is reach an understanding with primary distributors, whether websites or trackers, such that Mintokyo items are acceptable as long as others don't claim the works as their own or modify them. That way, blatant theft of work can be clamped down upon.

Basically, If we raise a huge fuss over people posting without having first obtained permission in every last instance, we may very well just be annoying the admins of the distro sites, and they might not even be willing to listen to us in the future.

some guys are just bad. ripping wallpapers from MT and posting it to another. im not up to bashing an admin, i dont want troubles but im here to support. dont line me in the frontliners ok!
