Hi everyone. I need some help making wallpapers. I was wondering, do you hand draw your characters and stuff then scan it into the computer and work with that, or do you do everything through the computer? I'm using photoshop and am having trouble on how to start up a wallpaper. Thanks.

[EDIT/kuroimisa]: Closed thread: owner's request.

I generally use an image from my collection of screencaps or such.. and then cut what part I want and put it into a new document. Then I give it a background and another layer with a gradient... then.. just play around with things >.> I really need plans sometimes...

what program do you use to screen capture? I'm also having trouble trying to cut out something so I can use it for a wallpaper. All I know how to do is use the magnetic lasso tool, but that doesn't seem too efficient or good.

best way to start is to come up with the idea you want to use for your wallpaper and then read alot of tutorials. A good one on extracting images is on imanimetions.net. And I wouldnt recommend using screen captures, they had a bad loss of quality and looks really sh!te when made into walls. If you are goin to use screen caps try vectoring the image

PM me to get my e-mail and i'll give you extensive 1 on 1 tutorials :)

however, i find that the fuzzy eraser tool set to size 5 or 6 does a good job at cutting out stuff. you leave a little black line, but it's not too prominent as if you were to use the solid eraser. use a constant clicking action instead of a click and drag. sometimes the eraser jumps a little with click & drag. with constant clicking, the control remains smooth :)

p.s. please get my e-mail. i want to teach someone :)

I tend to start with the image that I want to be the central focus of the wall. Then based on that image I will come up with some sort of bg that tells a story about the image. For example if the image you have is of a girl in a school uniform walking than your story could be walk to school or walking to class. At least that's how typically start my projects. Hope that helped.

for screencaps, I use windvd from dvds and windows media player for non-dvd media. <3

alright, thanks. I've got both so I think I can screencap. Just need to look for the option...but I got my question answered fairly clearly so thanks everyone.

ei, just a question coz i didn't know how to do screencaps on windows media player.so how do you do it/ maybe you can PM me..thanks in advance..
