do you think of yourself a failure as your parents child for not being able to
meet their expectations? why and why not?
sometimes i think like that because when my mothers compare me to another child,
not necessarily hers, i feel like she regrets the day she gave birth to me...
do you think the same?

Oh, poor mela. I'm sure she didn't mean it. My parents do tell me off, but I
don't blame them because it's not their intention to hurt.
I try not to shame my parents, mainly because they love me so much. ^^ **only
child over here* And being good means I am allowed to do what I like, when I
want, even though it might be a little dangerous in their point of view.
I don't uaually think like that, since, most of the time, my sister is being
compared to me. She says that she has a lot of pressure to meet my standard. But
my dad sometime still askes me to go to him while he is reading the newspaper.
Talking about some genius kid in it. That really makes me feel bad.

I don't normally think that way. My grandmother is the only one that has ever
acted like you do. That's pretty much why I hate her with such a passion. My
parents were usually supportive of me. Although they do compare me to my older
sister sometimes.
my parents too compare me a lot to some bright and smart girl which irritates me
a lot, but hey after that, i know that they love me the way i am. ya it is a
little infair to compare, but hey soon when you are a parent, you will start
saying the same thing. trust me

yeah that is happening to mee also
"look he is doing that and you not"
"you have to do better , look at him"
but when i compare them with other people....
lol i wouldnt do that
but i think what Studio said is true
they want you to do better thats why they say that
No, I've never felt that way. My mother has never compared me to anyone else
with a negative air. She appreciates me as I am, as well as my dad. When I fail,
I'm the one who feels like I'm a failure; with no help from them. They tell me
that people have their own skills and achievements. I most of the time make
myself feel like I'm a failure. I never
let anyone look down on me and make me feel inferior.
My parents does that all the time.
If I got a grade which is one of the lowest in the class, my mother always says:
'everyone else got high grades, but you just barely past!'
But, if the whole class got bad grades (encluding me), she says that she don't
care about the rest of the class.
Screw her.
I live my own life for myself, not my parents and I don't have to be like them.
sometimes i think so yes, that i am a failure as a child for my parents becase
they dnt relly like that im a compure "nerd" ? or something like that,
and that i dont gho so much up into having a girlfriend.... but i
dont think that theyh think the same way
My mom and relatives compare me to other kids. It gets annoying so I just ignore
it. I try my best in everything I do, if they are not satisfied with my work, it
isn't my problem.
I am sometimes being compared to others too. I really am sick of my life for i
have no direction but I really try my best to find it so that I won't feel any
failures.

Same here. That same idea I try to instill on
every parent who compares his/her child with me. I'll say "Oh, but your
child is very good in drawing" or something like that. The way I see it,
you should make them aware of your special certain talent. Do good and they'll
forget that you flunked Math.
As for me, I try to get the most out of every penny spent on me. Economics,
yeah? That's why I strive to go beyond my everybody's expectations all the time.
And besides, it feels kinda nice, knowing your parents are extremely proud of
you.
My parents are okay I guess................they don't really compare me with
other people except of course my older sisters. But they tend to criticize what
I'm doing if I did something bad...or I did something and it had a negative
effect on them. They tend to blame the computer and well....anime. But I'm the
'good' type. Although I don't really like when my aunts point out I'm never good
enough...they expect me to be perfect...I would actually agrue to them sometimes
but that would never end because they are the type of people who always wants to
win in everything and they'll say all this..nonsense..and consider it facts that
approve to their side. Damn people.
Although I don't think anyone has ever made me feel like a failure so
far....including myself. I know better.
i used to think myself a failure, but when i was 9 or 10 i realized, even if
someone else compares me to my sibling, i don't care, i can do what i want, when
i want, because nobody but myself can make me a failure
Nah! my parents want me to be happy, so if a fail in something they know that i
will try again. Failure is something you have to get used to, one isn't perfect
in any way.
It happens everyday to all of us and it is a good part of life, because each
time you fail at doing something you always learn from your mistakes.
Hey hey hey!!!!!
ALL YOU negative people OUT there listen up!
the MOST powerful ONE IN THE family IS THE black sheep OF THEM all!
know THAT AND KNWO IT well
where WAS BILL gates WHEN HE IS A HIGH school DROP out?
he became THE billionaire OF (f**k) microsoft today!
where WAS donald trump WHEN HE failed HIS attempst TO start A class business?
he IS RICH AND loving IT IN THE apprentice AND A HOST OF lands under HIS
name!
where IS ME WHEN I didn't WIN IN THE school yearly sports festival something
EVEN THE third prize?
i WON NEXT YEAR AND I GOT A bloody LOT TO boast about!
know this, YOUR parents LOVE YOU AND THEY don't RATE YOUR achievements LIKE A
LIST OF FBI questions!
they LOVE YOU because OF WHO YOU are!, black sheep OR not!
know this, THE balck sheep IS THE BEST investment! THAY KNOW bloody WELL YOU ARE
ON THE right track SO STOP being paranoid AND LOOK yourself down! YOU ARE THE
man/woman! NO doubt NOW, NO doubt then, NO doubt IN THE future!
if YOU ARE SO LOW about IT, prove IT! YOU CAN DO IT, maybe NOT NOW, NOT TEN
years FROM NOW, BUT ONE thing, YOU WILL DO IT! YOU CAN because YOU ARE THE black
sheep!!!!
My mother probably likes the way I turned out. I usually help her when she needs
it, I treat her with respect (unlike a brother of mine), I make respectable
grades, and so on and so forth.
My dad probably likes the way I turned out as well, minus a few things. I show
reletivly no interest in dating. My dad was like a big time player when he was
young, and he probably thinks I'm gay or something. Which he claims wouldn't be
a problem, but I know he wouldn't like it. He
does like the fact that we share almost identical political, religious, and
economical views.
All-in-all, I doubt they view me as a failure.
@Devildude
Hah. I doubt anyone on this forum will grow up to be rich or famous. You can
hope though. Chill with the capitalization seizures though...made me skip the
middle of your post because its annoying to read.
Sometimes, it happens to me. But I'm not considering this as my failure. I don't
want to live in other's expectations. All of us have limitations so don't force
yourself to meet their expectations. I have my own ablities & I'm always do
all my best. Just only give your best in everything you like to do. You're a
teenager now, no longer a child. ^ ^

Yeah I guess. I wish they would stop doing that though. We are already doing our best.
I wish you the best of luck to get out of that situation.
my parents too compare me a lot to some bright and smart girl which irritates me a lot, but hey after that, i know that they love me the way i am. ya it is a little infair to compare, but hey soon when you are a parent, you will start saying the same thing. trust me
My whole entire family compares and calls me by few words.
I used to mind but not so much anymore.
They're just going to have to accept whom I am, whether they like it or not...
