I found this interesting article "The East Wing" in Anime Insider

They were saying if anime rules your life, wouldn't it be better if anime ruled
the country, too? Just imagine if you could vote for your favorite anime
characters in this year's elections.
Here are the candidates:
Secretary of Labor: Tohru Honda (Fruits Basket) - A cheery workaholic, the only
worry is that unemployment might rise, since she'll try and do everyone's job
herself.
Secretary of Energy: Ginji Amano (GetBackers) - his body's able to generate
massive amounts of electricity
Chief of the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco: Spike Spiegel (Cowboy
Bebop) - Spike would quickly regulate the selling and use of all of these items,
if just to make sure they eventually wound up in his personal stash. And if
anyone broke his laws, at least he'd get his man
… for a price.
Secretary of Education: Eikichi Onizuka (GTO) - With him in charge, bottle
rockets would be added to science textbooks, video game-playing would be an
extracurricular club, and he would attend high-level cabinet meetings in an
elephant costume.
Secretary of Transportation: Tak Fujiwara (Initial D) - Speed limits would be
set to 100mph, and every driveway would have be a starting line. Trains, planes
and automobiles would all be fitted with Noz fuel injectors and airbags,
ensuring that we all arrive to our destinations on time but safely.
Director of Homeland Security: Gendo Ikari (Evangelion) - With Neon Genesis
Evangelion's devious Gendo Ikari in charge of our
nation’s safety, everyone can sleep
easier at night.
Secretary of the Treasury: Nami (One Piece) - She'll keep the nation on track by
stealing all the treasure she can find. The only problem will be getting the
treasure back when she's done with the job.
Secretary of the Interior: Princess Mononoke (Princess Mononoke) - After living
in the wild all her life, managing our nation's parks, forests and wildlife
should be a cinch.
Vice-President: Menchi (Excel Saga) - What do they do, anyway? Nothing, unless
the President can't fulfill his duties.
President: Vash the Stampede (Trigun) - His platform is "Love and
Peace," and he looks good on camera.
I would like to add my votes on the cabinets which weren't include in the
article:
Secretary of State: Joker (Read or Die) - with his supreme foreign affair
skills, he can manipulate any other countries.
Secretary of Defense: Treize Kushrenada (Gundam Wing) - general who admires the
beauty of war
Secretary of Agriculture: Nanami Jinnai (El Hazard) - she has the ability of
preparing enough lunchbox for all citizens in the whole country
Attorney General: (any suggestions?)
Secretary of Commerce: (any suggestions?)
Secretary of Health and Human Services: (any suggestions?)
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: (any suggestions?)
Secretary of Veterans Affairs: (any suggestions?)
If you disagree with any of the above, post your candidate under the appropriate
cabinet.
PS. I've posted this topic in another forum some time ago, this is the shorten

Um. . . I hope that you know that none of the positions above, save for the
President and Vice-President, are elected positions. In other words, they're
not "candidates" for office.
Yes, I'm awared that only the president and the vice-president are elected
positiions. But I'm not talking about real life politics here. It's anime. ^^
For some reason, I feel this is a rather hard topic to talk about. Anyways, here
are my alternate candidates:
Secretary of Labor: May (Hand Maid May)
Secretary of Energy: Pikachi (Pokemon)
Secretary of Education: Yamaguchi Kumiko (Gokusen)
Secretary of Defense: Kaolla Su (Love Hina), or Sosuke Sagara (Full Metal
Panic)
Secretary of Health and Human Services: Mariel (Hanaukyo Maid La Verite)
Secretary of Commence: Nabiki Tendo (Ranma 1/2)
Well, if anyone else can think of other suitable candidates, that'll cool.
i was never big on readding, it's late and im tired to b honest i got bored by
the time i got to the 10th line.. sry *blush*, so im just gonna go for Roy as
president and Riza to be the vice-president (and first lady if possible ^^).
great thread btw i enjoy answerin it ^^. it's fun to imagine Ed marchin into the
oval office every morning- even though i don't live in the US, bu im sure Roy'll
enjoy being the head.
