How worthwhile is it to watch Naruto?

For quite a while, I have been hearing that Naruto is quite popular. Can someone recommend this Anime to me? How worthwhile is it as an Anime? I only know its an Anime on Ninjas and fighting action. What do you guys think about this Anime? I'm considering if I should get it.

naruto = dragonball z 2004
there's no real plot, something happens, flashback/recap, someone does something,
it gets explained 3 times, flashback/recap, fight begins, flashback/recap, fight goes on,
something happens, flashback/recap, someone does something,
it gets explained 3 times, flashback/recap syada-yada-yada

oh
in case you couldn't figure it out, i don't really like that show =/

Hm....is the repetition that obvious?

Naruto is superior than Dragonball Z, but bluntly put the main thing the anime has going for it is it's fight scenes (that and some of it's slapstick comedy). The show does have a plot but it is somewhat butchered and lost in the constant flashback scenes which occur about every episode... Yes there seems to be a small bit of filler at the start of every episode... During the battles each characters past also has to be elaborated upon for a full two-three episodes (sound familiar? *cough* *cough* Dragonball z)... Those are really the few flaws that are in the series... But putting those aside, Naruto is a fun series to watch. It doesn't require much thinking but the fight scenes are well planned out and atleast from what i've seen so far the anime is continually getting better. The truth is if you can get by all the annoying flashbacks you'll probably enjoy this series as well. So while Naruto isn't a super-god anime like many 12 year olds like to hype it up as, it is a fun form of mindless-action that is a good way to pass the time.

On a side note there aren't very good animes being subbed right now anyway ^__^'... Well there's Full Metal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, and Samurai 7 (which gets released at a painstakingly slow rate due to the way it's airing). But that's about it... Oh yes I could make an argument that Samurai Champloo is somewhat hyped up too, but let's save that for another time >_>

What I like about Naruto is how truly deep all the characters are, even the ones that are not from the core group of characters. I'm not a fighting anime fan, but I have to respect Naruto because there is a lot more honor and skill involved with the Ninja fighting than in DBZ (the example given) where is point to to be the most impossibly ripped character with the spikeyist hair. The core of Naruto has to do with every kid's dream to succeed.
I'll recommend to you what I recommend to my club members: Watch the first 5. If you don't like it, then stop. If you like it but aren't sure, watch another couple.

or you can just read the manga instead of watching the anime.... i think the anime is reaally moving at a v.v. slow rate (in the later eps that is...)

Its true that there is alot of character development and growth in naruto.
I like a fights, the story drags though...that's why I wait for about 10 or 20 eps to be released before watching them. ^_^
My friend reads the manga and tells me I am stupid for watching the anime, but I just like watching moving pictures then reading a black and white static book =p
i would recommend it, funny, has a story, character build, but slow at times. ^_^

It's sad about people that say bad about this anime. It's one of the best animes I've seen (And I've seen plenty of them).
This anime has all the things I search and that is lots of action, comedy, ecchi, nice plot!
what can I say...only seeing it you will know.

why does everyone say that Naruto is like DBZ? DBZ is too slow paced. they stare at each other for about 10 minutes, when in naruto, they are actually fighting. Naruto is worth watching.

as much as i hate the fact at how naruto is so overrated, it is actually a good watch. i mean the show is nothing special but it is damn entertaining and the character development is quite nice. ahha heck i gave one of my friends up to ep 80 to watch and he was done within three days, so i guess its a good time killer at least

I see....Maybe one of these days I should try out watching the Anime. Another addition to my "Wanted Anime" List. Hehe.

Its a good anme, but its beginning to drag now and its nowhere near the end. It's got a good few years left yet... >_<

Its a really good anime series, great fighting (if that is your thing) otherwise its story and characters are deep. The actual story has alot further to go, but as it stands right now, I would highly recommend watching it.

Yeah, the show is pretty good overall. The fights are interesting, the characters are interesting, like that guy with the huge jug of sand on his back, and the story, well... They did replace the show here before I could actually catch a glimpse of what the overall plot was but I still found Naruto to be quite a good series to watch.

typical fighting scenes n so on

naruto's fighing scenes aren't about how powerful could a character be, are about how you use what you've got, not destroying planets and that stuff. i know they repeat "protect the ones you love" i don't care, anyway other series do it. this series calls me because of the mysteries about some characters (4th) and itachi which reminds mehow the anime will be better cause, where the manga is now.

i think it's really good, but it drags at times. too bad i read all the manga that is out, makes the anime seem even slower some times

Hm...looks like a lot of people complain that Naruto's plot is slow developing? I seldom hear about Anime being commented as "slow" though. Seems quite weird.

plot: good
characters' look: good
fighting: DA BOMB
