this is my my new favorite manga (and i still have a LOOOT of volumes to go... i
believe there are 27?)... the art is beautiful (the colors on the covers are
amazing), the storyline is unbeatable (in essence, it's about post-apocalyptic
Japan, and the corrupt rule of the king's four sons. it is prophesied that
Sarasa's twin brother Tatara will liberate the people and restore the desert
lands to their once fertile state. but when Tatara is killed, it's up to Sarasa
to take his place as the true "Boy of Destiny." on top of all that,
Sarasa and her sworn enemy, the Red King Shuri, just happen to fall in love, but
both are completely unaware of the others' identity...), and it features a
strong female main character. i tend to gravitate towards strong female
characters more than weak ones, because you see those too often in dead white
men literature and otherwise. ^_-
but the thing i love most about this manga is the subtle division between good
and evil. it shows how good and bad are truly the same; they are both trying to
create a peaceful world, only they have seperate ways of doing it.
i'm sad that there's not much about it mentioned on this site...
comments on this?... fellow basara fans, make yourself known!
yes.. basara is my greatest manga. it is really good. I suggest people who are
just gettin into anime and manga, to read basara. Its for the normal people
that believe that manga and anime is childish . But i do suggest any fan at all to read basara. it is really reallly
good.
So Read Basara people!!! the best manga out there.. truly touching
This topic brings back memories....I was a huge fan of the series some years
ago. I ended up spending $$$ on the artbooks, trading cards, etc. I first got
interested in it when I watched a fansubbed version of the anime . Too bad it
never had a second season to continue on the story. I ended up getting all 27
volumes of the japanese manga to find out what happens up til the end. It was
worth the purchase.
