My friend is trying to be like me. And it's getting really annoying. Like, how I told her I dyed my hair black..a week or so later, she's telling me she dyed HER hair as well. She's trying to be morbid and plotting like myself...and she sent me an email saying "I've turned dark and I like it." She's really not the sort to be a morbid person. Not to sound like I'm labeling or anything, its just if you knew her, you'd agree. What should I do?

LOL, this reminda me of those posermobile commercials. Why do you care so much? seriously..people should start caring more about themselves than what group they belong to or what fashion they fit into. ;)

You'll both grow out of the whole thing more than likely, so I wouldn't worry about it. You took your style from somewhere right? If not, you managed to invent the same style thousands of other kids your age are trying. Either way, it's not really that big of a deal. She probably feels insecure about herself and sees you as being more in control of yourself and your destiny.

If you want her to stop, your best option is to make her feel better about herself so that she feels comfortable being herself rather than trying to be someone else.

You could tell her to just be herself because that results in the least trouble. Trying to be someone better like with bragging or showing off, trying to imitate someone, or stooping to someone's level, poses problems and someone is bound to get upset.

Well you can try a couple of things. You can confront her in a very direct manner, but that would probably seriously interfere with your friendship. You could stop providing opinions when you are around her. Ler her carry the conversations and agree with her alot. Subtly turn the tables so that she can recognize what she is doing. You can also express some erratic opinions. For example, like one band one day and hate them the next. If you confuse her a bit, she will stop copying you. The other thing you can try is to act out of character yourself. Don't wear what you normally might for a couple of days or say hi to a couple of people you would not normally acknowledge in her presence. You need to get her to think about what is wrong in her own life. She is doing this for a reason. Maybe she doesn't feel like she fits in or maybe she is just very unhappy with the way her future is progressing and thinks that changing her outward appearance will change her inward emotional landscape.

You're probably a role model to her in some way... I don't know what else to say but that! ^_^'

Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

Yeah... y'all are right. I built my image off of something else, people should not worry about their image.*sigh* I'm making such a big deal out of something so small. ^_^ aren't I so sad? lol

^^;; hee hee

just be yourself ^_^ no matter how much anyone tries they can never take your place.

^___^ thanks SharinganKnight! I'll keep that in mind ^_-

Ignore her. Problem solved.

I think you should take it as a compliment
If she copies you that shows how much she looks up to you
