I was at a children daycare center in a church today. The next thing I realized
I was sitting with kids. A little girl came to me and asked "Do you have a
girlfriend?" I was like ...... WTH? Kids their age are already interested
in other people's relationship? When I was their age, I probably didn't even
know the words "girlfriend/boyfriend/kiss" meant .
(oh btw, they are 7-8 years old.) "Why do you want to know?" I asked.
She shrugged, "I don't know" she said, "You have a girlfriend,
don't you?" Then she told the girl next to her, the other girl asked me
"You have a girlfriend?" A few seconds later, more girls started
asking me the same question. I just
don’t get it why would they ask me.
"Why do you want to know?" "I don't know." I replied
"you tell me." Then they poked my cheeks lightly. (Anyone knows what
does that mean? Is that a kind of greeting little girls would do?)
As for the boys, they asked me if I can play Yu-Gi-Oh. Although this was the
first time I play real YGO trading card game, I have watched the anime and beat
couple games on GBA. it shouldn't be that different. So I agreed; one of them
lent me his deck; I learned a few minor rules as the games went on. At the end,
I beat three of them with my Life Points (8000) untouched. They were surprised
and shocked. I mean I was playing against kids who are hardly half of my age,
victory seemed to be obvious. Then I heard from others that the third kid I
dueled with said he hasn't lost a game in 3-4 years. He was considered the
strongest duelist around . The defeat has damaged his pride and shaken up his confidence, even though
he wasn't using his own deck. (Our decks were equally powered IMO) Maybe I
should've cheered him up by saying "You gotta give yourself some credits,
you were dueling with the best of the best duelists in this time and space. "
Anyhow, he was really depressed
Knowing the fact that he couldn't touch my Life Points also pissed him off. A
moment later, he took out his whole binder of YGO cards, handpicked the most
powerful cards he had. Well you guessed it: he challenged me to a rematch ^_^. I
could see his eyes were burning with flame of vengeance. LOL. The other boys
were like "OMG, Johnny is serious now." They offered me their whole
card collection, "here, pick whatever you want. You'll need them." I
was like ".....ummm. I'll fine with the original deck ^_^;;;" The
rematch went on and on, too many interruptions from other kids. The teachers
were showing Duel Masters. Gradually our minds went onto somewhere else^_^;; .
So at the end, we never got to finish the game. Score: 7100 to 6600. I was
slightly in the lead. Kinda disappointed that I couldn't keep a full Life
Points. I wonder if I beat him again (at his best), which would probably crash
his confidence completely. Quite a mean thing to do to little kids. Then again,
lose on purpose goes against my nature (even to little kids). Well, that's
pretty much what happened to me today.
I have always thought kids are horrible creatures: loud, noisy, annoying,
running around like miniature racing car. After this experience, I confirmed
that they indeed are all that.
However, my impression of them went from 'horrible' to 'so-so' ^^.
That will all for now, thanks for reading.
wow.. a long story there..
yeah.. kids may be cheeky at time.. they are fun and cute too.. ^^
if you are going to stay longer with the kids.. your impression of kids will
chnaged even better..
hmmm... so now, you've learned to love kids... well, it wouldn't've mattered if
you came from a big family. i mean, being surrounded with kids all the time, you
just get used to them, even can't help loving them eventually. as
for the young girls, well, when u was their age i didn't know what
boyfriends/girlfriends were, but i know that i had a crush at that age (hmmm...
slightly off topic now...)...

them, eh?
Yup, I consider myself as a patient guy^_^

If I can get along with them, my impression of them will definitely changed even
better. but I'm really not sure if that will happen

ummmmmmm... I still don't like kids.
I came from a small family. I'm the only child. And I'm alone most of the time.
So working with a bunch of hyper-active kids was not comfortable at all. Well, I
admit i did get used to them just a little

Haha! You have to remember that you were a kid once :P
As for the story, yeah, kids can be annoying sometimes. VERY annoying. I have
the same sort of daycare experiences. And it's especially annoying when they
are really little (5-7) and they take a liking to you. They want to go
everywhere with you, and that usually means piggy back rides.
You do have to have lots of patience as well as a strong will.
You know what I find, if you play around too much, they don't listen to you
anymore. Even if you yell at them. Gah, why don't they listen!
Yeah, kids sometimes are annoying. Well, I were a kid once... So I'm trying to
understand their situation. XP

Well, the attitudes of children change very fast. Me too, when I was a child I
never think of boyfriend/girlfriend...
Be patient. Try to understand their situation. And enjoy staying with them. ^__^
Hehe...
I know what you went through> MY senior year of high school I had to do
"senior service" to help out the community. I made the mistake of
volunteering at an after school program at my old elementary school. It was a
nightmare. The kids were so frickin hyper. Then the questions it was a non stop
serious of absolutely pointless questions. Then since i hadn't shaved in a
couple of days they atarted to make fun of that. That was only the first out of
many many days. It eventually got better but now I really can't stand little
kids not even my own cousins.

extinction of the human race I would say all kids should be hunted down
and shot.
don't you remember when you were a kid? when i was
a kid i remember my girl friends and i would chase all the boys around the
playground trying to kiss them! (this was first grade... XP) even though they
get on my nerves sometimes i still love working with little kids! i remember
being asked if i had a boyfriend all the time by the students in the classes i
helped out in! they're curious and since we're SO OLD
they want to know what our lives are like...
I really like to work with kids. My mom used to be a day-care provider, so in
elementary school, I was around little kids ALL the time. And just this past
week, I had to watch over a bunch of six-year olds at a golf camp. It was
tiring, yes, but it was nice to have a hand in a child's development. When I
ever do have my daughter, I'm never going to want her to grow past the age of 8
or so... Oh wells.
But, it takes a certain kind of temperment to be able to work with kids. One of
the best things is to have kids yourself. Once you do, you kinda take a certain
admiration for youth and their curiosity.

Old man why'd you have to say that. Yeah kids are curious but some of them are
just plain annoying when they ask you questions. I remember being a kid and I
never did that.............much.
wow...you are very patient! i work at my aunt's daycare and i usually cannot
wait until their nap time! they usually ask me questions like that. at least you
didn't blow up at them like most people do!
haha, that's kind of funny ^^
i use to play with my cousins that are about the same age somethimes. Some of
them play yugioh too(I've tried to learn them to play Magic instead ^^).
Any how, I believe losing on purpose can be frustrating sometimes since,
especially kids, like to brag about their win over you when they win and thats
pretty irritating. But, I think one should try to act as an adult and handle
the situation, they have to learn to have confidence and confidence can be hard
to find, especially at that age.
I don't think you did the wrong thing, but I always try to lose with a slight
margin, what ever I play so that the loser still wants to play ^^
And I don't play yugioh, I've tried it a little but I
donät like it much compared to playing Magic.
btw. I love the picture of the Wingweaver card in yugioh ^^
LOL I like kids. I've worked with LOTS of kids LOTS of times... Sometimes it
went good, sometimes I wanted to kill all the little brats, but at the end of
the day, I enjoy being with them. What, it does't sound like it?!?!
I was also asked if I had a boyfriend. It is always so "interesting and
fun" for the little girls to ask about it... hehe... and if they see you
talking to a person (opposite sex) they go all crazy, and suddenly you are
almost married with the guy you were casually talking to
Poor kid! You killed his ego... j/k! I bet you are the new superhero in town!
Sometimes I let the kids win, but if I'm playing (whatever game I'm playing)
against a kid with the whole "I'm the best" attitude there's no way I
will let him/her win lol.
WOW..that was a long story...
i can play with kids also BUT...
my little brother
he is the worse.
lol you playing yugioh with kids
haha *imagening right now*
LOL
well anyway...
have a nice day and see you around
