Sorry, haven't seen it...yet. But I heard it from my friends that the ending
part is so rediculous. The price is really high if Iwanna buy the ticket to
watch it. And also nobody watches it...My point of view, dunno. Haven't seen it,
I can't judge it. ^_^"
I love it!! The ending was alright. Something about what we humans breath in
since we were born and our body builds up immunity to it. So the aliens didn't
have an immune system in their body to protect itself because they weren't born
on this planet.
It kept me in my seat all the time when I was watching it.
Well, I can't exactly deny that the effects were not great. They were really
good. It's the story that kind of upset me. One of my best friends dragged us in
because she likes explosions and stuff (I don't mind them either, actually) and
by the end of the movie I was on the point of killing her.
First, I'm not exactly a great fan of aliens. I think that the theme has been
used so many times already that it's not impressive anymore. Especially when
they're huge robot things threatening to destroy human kind. Done and re-done by
so many producers that it's kind of boring, if you ask me.
Then, the happy ending thing. I have nothing against happiness, but that was
ridiculous. They all survived. All of them. Double-u tee fff?
i can't argue that the beginning was pretty good and captivating, actually, but
towards the end, my thought was: "Okay, finish up already. We get the
point."
But, I must say, that what I liked and found very interesting is the reaction of
people facing a catastrophy. The episode when they were all trying to get into
the car, for example. It showed that humans are ready to kill the one next to
them to save themselves. Which is understandable, but impressive all the same.
Oh, and I also enjoyed the bodies floating down the river. It was well done and
kind of creepy.
To sum it up, the movie was worth watching, I guess. It's definitely not the
best movie I ever saw, but how would you know if you like a movie or not if you
didn't see it, right? Plus, Tcodec4657 is right. The special effects were
awesome.^^
Well, the movie in my opinion was along the range of 6/10. The effects and the
reactions were very well awesome, however, the plot itself is not
effective.
Firstly, I think that the way they portrayed the reaction of the people was
quite accurate. It would seem ridiculous for people to be taking videos and
pictures of aliens when their very life may be in danger. However, if you think
about people today and how the current economy and the advertisements influence
the people, the situation is very realistic. It's not hard to imagine aliens
attacking the world and the majority of the people are capturing the event on
tape or otherwise.
Another thing that bugs me, the son, Robby, was thought to have run off to watch
the aliens with the army. There was a huge explosion, yet at the end Robby
appeared unharmed. Maybe he tagged along with some people or something, but I
don't know. It's bugging me.
All in all, the movie was okay, but I still agree, it is worth
watching.
(I mean no offence to those who disagree with my opinion. If you don't agree,
just ignore me)

You are aware that is how War of the Worlds always ends right? Every time the
story is done it's always the same, the Martians have no immunity against the
germs and stuff that have been around for eons. Although this movie was closer
to the book that the 1953 version, and I can't even compair it to the 1939 oct
30 radio broadcast by Orson Wells.
I'd say it was about time someone did the H.G. Wells classic justice for once
rather than the other movies which just borrowed ideas from it.
War of the Worlds is to me a showcase of effects that Spielberg is capable of
producing (which is the greatest I've seen so far, to say the least). There is
not much else to it though, including the shoddy storyline and the annoying
stares/screams from that little girl.
The new version was the first I had seen of it, and I thought it was great.
My friend informed me of what went on in the old version, and it seems there
were several differences. The only thing he didn't tell me, since he didn't know
how it all went down, were what they came down in in the old one, or the ending,
since I hadn't seen the old version, he didn't want to spoil it for me.
Still think its a pretty damn good film, though. He also said that that wasn't
in the old one, with the 'fertiliser' part. (people who have seen the film will
know what I mean)
The movie did nothing for me actually. I felt that the plot had no real
direction and it generally just lacked substance. The characters were all stale
and boring. The eye candy just isn't enough to tell a good story. I was
expecting so much more from Spielberg, I actually thought the movie might turn
out to be something like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" in terms
of storytelling, but it just didn't deliver at all.
The movie freaked me out a bit. The whole what if scenario set my mind racing...
I think I should stock piling food now.... The bit with the blood was cool if
sick, but cool.
i really didn't expect a happy ending to tell the truth... It's not realistic.
The novel was written in 1898, by a man in a technologically primitive
society...so all that, coming from his mind...is amazing. The Tripods used the
blood as a power-source...boiling it, and using it to fuel the machines. In the
end...when the machine was behaving erratically, it was a product of 'bad
blood'...infected Red Weed, that entered the Martians' systems. Had they aimed
only at destruction...it would have been Dust and Echoes, Earth. Aside from
that, the non-understandable concept of their defeat was linked - entirely - to
the blood. Blood contains germs, viruses...and every unclean thing of the
potential like. Injesting the blood, when the Martians have not yet had time to
adapt, killed them, undid them, destroyed them, by the tiniest creatures God in
his wisdom put upon this Earth. The Tripod call, the blasting noise they
emitted, was distorted at the end because of these sicknesses. The lamps on the
Tripod flickering was the result of weakness of the Martians to cooperate with
the machines' guidance systems, therefore the Tripods became erratic, a product
of why the last Tripod did not fire the Heat-Ray at the end when it was struck
down by the rockets.
The one thing I did not understand was the holding cages. In the novel, there
were holding cages under the Tripods, yet there was no 'tentacle' that descended
in an plucked a human into a 'mouth'. In the film, it meant that the humans were
to be 'downloaded' of their knowledge, then drained of their blood. The orangish
liquid was mucus from the common cold, stored in the Tripods' holding chambers
unintentionally, only to be released, as blood was when the tripod needed to
chute out the fountain of the human substance, adding to the growing Red Weed.
I agree with ayeneko
the plot was so so, but the effects and filming, production quality very
high/well done, I can't say i was expecting a masterwork, but I enjoyed it, and
it at least live up to my expectations of a decent action film with the high
quality production that it had
i passed this movie didn't appeal to me, it looked like a movie down to just
show effects, also the laiens to me wher elike large squids then aliens. Maybe
i'll watch it when it comes to DVD
This movie just blew me away. It is so awesome! The special effects were so realistic; it's simply fantastic.

The Movie at the beginning seemed to be different from what I had thought having to seen no previews or trailers but it really didnt matter...
It was abit amusing at the start and soon became really boring and weird... In the end it was even getting worst as it just didnt seem to link up..
great movie
bad ending
even though they ended the book the same way i reckon they could've changed it.

i agree with just about everyone so far. It was pretty realistic, the effects kicked ass, but the plot wasn''t the best.
