I want to make a GIF out of a scene from one of the anime videos on my PC,
I've already found a program dat allows me to turn AVI files into animating GIFs...
But i cant seem to find a program (Free/Shareware pls, me no money. :P) dat allows me to cut specific scenes out of a video so dat i can make it into a GIF..
Can anyone please recommend me sum good video editing programs?

I'm trying to do the same thing, but my AVI to GIF converter I downloaded doesn't work on my computer, could you please tell me which one you are using. If I find a good AVI cropping program I'll post here.

Virtualdub (Windows) or Avidemux (most OS's, I believe) will do this for free. Or you could use Mencoder from the command-line.

um, cant windows movie maker do that...?

If you just want to take scenes from an AVI movie file and turn them into pictures for an animated GIF file, then you can use Adobe ImageReady which comes with Photoshop to import AVI movie files into animated GIFs.

But Adobe stuff costs money. And this guy wants something free.

it can cost money ;)

what i did for a gif i made from please twins was screen shot each frame XD around 100 frames ^__^;;

i used Power DVD for screens lol

but yeah what can i do for DVDs?

Im not capturing images, i just want to cut a short video clip from an Anime AVI movie.. ^_^' I cant convert the entire show into GIF, right? Imagine the size of that GIF file..Lol.

@TSPhoenix
I'm using River Past Video Cleaner, its not free but im just trying it out temporarily coz it can also convert MKV files to AVI and a few other things...

Well VirtualDub is the way to go then.

About the Windows Movie Maker thing, it will only export to WMV as a far as I know, which doesn't help compatability-wise.

VirtualDub is perfect! Even better, its free! Thanks cb88!
