Quote by ceasarrHey everyone.........i
want to listen to jap.punk music, but i have no idea of
japanese bands.....any suggestions?
Dir En Grey
Gackt
Porno Graffitti
Moi Dix Mois
X Japan
I haven't heard any Porno Graffitti, but Dir en grey (btw only the
"Dir" has a capital letter), Gackt, Moi Dix Mois and X Japan are not
Punk bands...Gackt isn't even a band - he's a solo artist.
Diru, M10M and X Japan are visual kei bands, and they all have very unique
sounds - if you're only just getting into japanese music and want something that
you can relate to a more western sound...they're not it.
I'd recommend Ellegarden, they have a very punky sound, some Panic CH* is quite
punky, as is some of hide's stuff with Spread Beaver and Zilch, L'Arc en Ciel
might be a good band to try as well.
Moi Dix Mois is very gothic sounding - by that I don't mean a lot of screaming,
but it has quite a church/medieval sound to it (think pipe organs, choirs
etc).
Dir en grey can be an acquired taste, if you don't like screaming, a vocalist
who can make the strangest noises and disturbing music in general - don't listen
to them.
X Japan are pretty much a classic rock band, proper 80s and early 90s rock
music, with incredible ballads.
Gackt is a solo artist now (used to be in Malice Mizer). His music covers a lot
of genres, there are one or two punky songs, but he predominantly writes rock
music (both hard and soft) and ballads.
I can give you info on quite a lot of japanese bands, particularly visual kei
ones, if you want
