What is irc?
irc (Internet Relay Chat) is a virtual meeting place where people from all over
the world can meet and talk; you'll find the whole diversity of human interests,
ideas, and issues here, and you'll be able to participate in group discussions
on one of the many thousands of IRC channels, on hundreds of IRC networks, or
just talk in private to family or friends, wherever they are in the
world.
Which brings me to mIRC which is an IRC-client. You can use mirc to make a
connection to the server which connects many micr users to the same network.
There are multiple servers so they connect thousands of people together. We have
only around 20-35 people online most of the time but sometimes there is pretty
quiet in #minitokyo, but just hang around a little
It's not really hard to install mirc. Just go to www.mirc.com and download the file.
Then click the file and press next.
Then press Yes
Then press Install wait (for it to install)
Then just press finish.
It is located on your pc at the default directory (C:}Programs Files\Mirc
I think it creates a quicklauncher on your desktop too. Then click it to start
mirc
It opens in front of you with a menu. Fill out the parts Full name, e-mail
Nickname and alternative nickname. You can put anything you want into relname
and e-mail, they dont have to be real Nickname is the name which others see you
in IRC so put in it like jackalz66
Then click the ident from the menu. Put your nickname to the part where it says
user ID
Then save settings by clicking OK
Now you are done with the settings.
Then you need to connect to the server. You can do that with command: /server
irc.rizon.net
server says something like:
-irc.rizon.net- *** Looking up your hostname...
--irc.rizon.net- *** Checking Ident
--irc.rizon.net- *** Found your hostname
when there comes lines like:
End of /motd command.

-[RizonMon VERSION]
You are connected. Then just type: /join #minitokyo
To get into MT channel
^^^
Depends on what you want it to do, do you just want to chat, do you want to go
on channels with file donwloads as well or do you want a client that cna also
connect to MSN, AIM, ect... ?
mIRC seems to be fairly standard, but for a more fully featured client try
either Gaim or Trillian.
rawrr #MiniTokyo is back
People actually talks now so come in and have fun
if you have mirc already, click here: irc://irc.rizon.net/minitokyo
if you dont..go get it
www.mirc.com
and thank Dustin for keeping the channel free from bandits
