Have you got a food recipe to share?
Is it your mom's?
Can you even cook?
I am a male high school student, yet I consider myself by all means a decent
cook. I have been baking stuff since I was 4 years old...meaning I could bake
some traditional Finnish items all on my own before I could even read the book
of recipes. My mum always told me one has to know how to make food...because
some of the women these days aren't too good at it. Besides, if you have your
stomach full of really good food, you can't really be mad at anything, now can
you?
So..this thread will be about cooking.
My specialties are Thai chicken, easy-to-make guacamole and fast & tasty
pizza recipe. It will take me some time to write them down (I need to check the
names for many ingredients in English), so feel free to go ahead and write your
own fav. recipies in here while I am at it...or maybe request something, or talk
about cooking in general.
BTW, Is cooking taught in schools all around the globe? At least here we have 2
hours of cooking for 2 years as a compulsory subject. The third year is
optional. I think that's not even nearly enough!
My mother has great recipes... like "nems" but this asiatic recipe
depends a lot on the quality of the ingredients. My sister tried to make them in
France and they weren't good.
I'm really bad at cooking... or maybe I'm not patient enough, I have even
succeeded to burn a soup.
In France and its territories (dom, TOM, POM and territorial collectivities)
cooking isn't taught.

Don't worry. I had these classmates in the cooking class, who managed to spoil
pretty much any food they got their hands on.
Some examples:
-they were frying some local fish on a pan. they burn them. then the teacher
gives them new fish. the new fish were burnt as well.
-they managed to burn some potatoes into the bottom of a kettle while boiling
them.
-we were all making a really nice chocolate cake instead of "regular
food" for a change. guess who left the oven on and it got burnt...
I always felt really sorry for them. They were all boys and pretty hopeless at
it. But I am also glad, because I got really a huge boost of self confidence to
my cooking skills back in those days. I flet like I am not that bad after all
and that I can make decent food, even though I might not be as good at cooking
as some of the others in class.
I can make a mean Bacon Cheeseburger. I'm an expert at making instant ramen and
mac n' cheese. My grilled cheese sammiches are nummy nums too. But I'm usually
lazy/busy especially after a long day at school so my parents usually do the
cooking. Good ol' home cooked filipino food.

You sound like a snack specialist. Got a nice sandwhich recipe or something in
store for us?
Oh I can't begin to tell you just how many cooking accidents I've had in my day.
Once burnt biscuist so badly that they were melted into the baking pan. Since
then I've gotten better. Share my recipes are crazy they are my secrets and you
shall never get them mwahahahahaha. j/k
I'm not the greatest cook, but the few things I cook I believe I do well. I'm
all for homemade loaves of bread and chicken enchiladas, but nothing beats the
magic of a Betty Crocker Muffin
Though, don't ever ask me to cut tomatoes. Those tend to become mutalated in my
hands...
Admittedly, I almost can't cook at all ^^;; The only thing I know how to cook
is pasta. My parents are quite good at cooking and they're more than willing to
teach me. The problem is, cooking makes me really nervous. Every aspect makes
me uneasy: the heat, smoke, smell, and of course the red hot glowing circles on
the stovetop. I'm always afraid that I'll mess up and overcook something, burn
down the kitchen >.> I know I'll have to learn it eventually, but for
now, I'll stay far away from the stove ^^;;
Here, there's a mandatory class for an equivalent of a year where family-related
skills are taught such as cooking, sewing, parenting, etc. However, noone
really learns anything from it, so it's kinda useless.

You just need some more experience. It's sometimes nice to cook something when
no one else is at home. That way, if it's good you can eat it all by yourself
and if it's bad, you can toss it away without anyone noticing... ^^
The best way to learn is to grab a nice-looking recipe and try it out. Making
things out of your head is often a bad idea in the beginning...like my
cheeseless pizza attempt as a kid. ^^

My mom's a great cook, but cooking it's just not the thing for me, I'd rather ordered pizza everyday, than cook a healthy meal for myself
