They're at times inevitable given at a certain location whenever it's hurricanes in the South, Tornadoes in the Midwest, Earthquakes in the West and Blizzards in the East.

Have any of you had a run in with Mother Nature's deadly obstacles? As for me I can't really say much about right now, since Katrina wasn't worth the story to tell (or my life for that matter) but I have ridden out through hurricanes like Cindy of this year and Ivan of last year which have put in the most grim of all outlooks, but anyways have you had an experience and are now living to tell the tale, I'd like to hear of it.

Last summer actually I went to Florida on vacation. Well the day before we were going to leave the hurricane I forgot what it's name is at the moment struck. I actually saw some of it through the window (no I wasn't standing in front of it the blinds were open and I saw all this stuff blowing by) That was one freaky night. The next day we were all in aw at the destruction that occured in just one night

yes, an earthquake, it was in the middle of the night, my mom work me up and with bunch of others gathered in the middle of the street, at that time, there wasn't any safe place where we can go, so all we can do is standing in the street. The bad part is the building across from ours clasped, no lie, but no one got hurt, thank God!

I have been through three but it was many years ago I will never forget the raw power of them

Yeah, about a year ago, the land forest was so dry that there were many forest fires in my area. Last time I remember an earthquake in my area was like 3 years ago and it was a minor one...

have not yet and wish never ...

In Europe we don't have large natural disasters like hurricanes or earthquakes.
We of course have mudslides in the alps, floods in Holland and extreme droughts in spain and portugal. But Im not sure you can compare them with a hurricane. They happen often slow and can continue for weeks or months.

One time, when I was flying I got ready for landing and just before the runway a microburst pused me down. I gave full power to escape, but I just went down and down. Luckily I was able to recover and land safely. It is not a natural dusaster, but very dangerous though.

There was an earthquake when i was at school. It was only about a 6, i think. People were a little unnerved, but overall damage was minimal.

Yeah I have, I live in Honoraville, Alabama and we've gotten quite a few hurricanes and tornados here recently. Hurricanes Katrina and Dennis didn't do much, Ivan was the worst of them. I had to go outside during it to do something for my grandmother because I did not want her out in that and came extremely close to getting my neck sliced open by a lawnmower blade and got smacked upside the head by a board. Painful. o_0

I went through Hurricane Isabel. Went without power for five days. No significant damage aside from missing roof shingles.

Last time i remember was a storm caused flooding. water went knee deep while i was sleeping on the floor. jeezuz.....

a tornado

Never expirenced a natual disaster.

the only natural disasters i've been through was the 3 hurricanes that hit central florida last year. which was crazy, it was just one hurricane right after another.
for the first one, hurricane charley i think, we only lost power for a couple of days. and the other two we didnt. and the neighborhood where i lived didnt really get that much damage.

i lived through two hurricanes in hawaii. thankfully my family and friends survived without any serious damages or any injuries. i remember feeling excited by the hurricanes because i was a stupid, little kid who didn't know any better. and i also remember playing with the ouija board with my uncle, which freaked me out more than the actual hurricane. yup, i was really naive and dumb... -_-

i almost did.

here is calm down everything :)

I was caught in the middle of the Blizzard that hit the east great lake area back on April 3rd this year. Got 30 inches of snow in a single day and the power was out for 2 days.

I realize that's nothing compaired with what's going on down on New Oleans, but at least it's warm down there. There was the problem of keeping warm when there's no power.

hmmm ... nope ... i don't think that's ever happened to me XP

Cyclones but I was too young to remember the most important one (1983), and the other ones weren't that close. Luckily where I live cyclones are the only natural disaster that can happen... of course there migth be new hot spots that can be formed but it's really unlikely... oh I remember too, there also could be tsunamis.

hmm.. i never encounter any natural disaster before.. so i cant really tell.. but from those news.. they can be really freaky and a total diasater.. x_x

i hope i wil never encounter any of it for my entire life.. :D

I live in Okinawa so i get Typhoons every year, its really strange, i live on an island thats 65 miles long, and we've had typhoons hear that were stronger then the Hurricanes last year and this year, yet u never hear about it in the news. On 9/11, we got hit one week before it happened by a typhoon, then it left after a few hourts, 1 day later it returned even stronger, but left the next day, then 3 days before 9/11, it came back again for the third time, and lasted 5 times, and was really strong. And when it left we still had to stay indoors because of the threat level. So i get hit by natural disasters every year.
(For those who dont know what a Typhoon is, its a hurricane that spins in the opposite direction as a Hurricane, but there the same thing.)
