I am sure everyone has seen the devastation Katrina has brought to New Orleans,
and sourranding areas. Here you can check out the horrible pictures: http://usatoday.com/
Fatalities are now reaching the hundreds, 80% of the city is underwater, people
have no electricity, water, cars, homes, nowhere to go. There isnt enough food,
the infested water due to flooded cars' gas leaking, as well as other things,
and all kinds of animals and swamp water are very unhealthy. This is my request
for everyone to donate some money, or send some canned food, or clothes,
diapers, formula, whatever you can to these people. They need us. They are
devastated. Please try to help as much as you can, Im begging.
If you want to donate money, go to the red cross, safest way, and go to their
disasters funds to donate directly to this horrible event' victims.
I need ya'll and my city does too...if this thread has been done already, I
apologize but I'm a wreck here.
Being 2 hours from the desruction of a major metropolitan area, I have been
watching this closely. Shelters have been popping up around here and people are
donating time, money, and supplies. We are doing what we can for the people
displaced by this hurricane and it may be weeks before some of them can go back
to New Orleans. The city has been taking in people and trying to place them in
homes. I guess Mardi Gras in New Orleans will be a little less popluar next
year.
I live in Pensacola and we also got hit by it but not as bad LA MS and AL.
Well, Ivan got us bad and now Katrina got LA and MS real bad. =( I've also been
closely watching CNN and Channel 5 and stuff O_O I'm sooo sorry. There are a
lot of refugeez from LA and MS here, our city is more than ready to help! =)
Quote by dvxIf I had money, I would donate.
Hope everyone there is okay.
My city doesn't ask for much, as long as you can help.
Quote by MysteryAngelI wish I could
donate but I don't live in the usa. I'm glad you are
ok.
It doesn't matter, after all the U.S. donates things to other countries in the
world so Im sure you can help in anyway as well, it doesn't even have to be
much.

Naw, Mardi Gras is still gonna bring people around, I just hope that the city
will be completely reformed by then.

Thanx for your help Arisa, it's really appreciated, thanx for caring guys, and
girls.
I live in southern alabama so we got some of it to. I'm glad you're okay. There
is a family coming from Mississippi to stay with us. They are friends of my Dad.
Their house got hit by a 37 foot high wave and the bottom floor of it is
completely submerged in water. Hurricanes can do aweful things.
i've already decided to donate money to the american red cross...i sincerely
hope that everyone over there will be alright and will be able to get back on
their feet soon!
Don't worry i'm already donating money, what i really hate about this are those
freakin newsreporters their out their interviewing people, asking stupid
questions like "so how has it been?" How do u think, hundreds of
people are homeless and dead, go out there and save some people rather than
interrupt police with these dumb questions. I know what alot of u are thinking
"but their just doing their jobs", thats rediculous human life is more
important than ratings.
In the beginning I thought it would'nt be so bad. but since I saw the news, I
couldn't believe the damage. It is quite sad and I would be donating once I get
some money coming in.
i think i can help you out....i'll put links to the thread for
donations....
ATTEnTION: they are also looking for rv"s, campers, food, clothing, medical
supplies, cars, buses, boats, flashlights, blankets..money...just basicaly
anything that would imprive quality of life....
I did already donate something for it. It's terible what happend there and I
hope it will never happen again. But it's nature and nobody can stop it or?
The store that I work at is planning on providing help. Hopefully very soon we
can get in touch with our local Red Cross so it can become official and we can
start asking our customers to help out and buy an item that the victims and/or
the Red Cross and other disaster reliaf teams can use to help towards the slow
recovery of this horrific tragedy. My store sells several items these people in
need could use, we have 6 packs of bottled water, first aid items, health and
beauty aids, cleaning supplies, and I say even some of the food we sell could be
used as part of the donation. It will just be a matter of getting all the
employees to ask the customers for their help so some relief can be given people
in need. I really want to help out, I'm just heart broken at this tragedy, I
can't hardly stand to watch the news because of all the images of the people
crying out for help. It just makes me want to cry, all those poor babies with no
food formula clean diapers just nothing at all, all the other people who nothing
but the clothes on their backs the ones still trapped on roof tops, it's just
horrible.
It just makes my heart sink because it's just so close to home knowing that
these are Americans in desperate need of help who have lost everything I
couldn't even begin to imagine to be in their shoes right now. I couldn't do it.
If you can help then please do so even if it's a small amount or just one item
everything counts in a situation like this.
This sure was a nasty storm. My power came back on the night after the storm
had passed. I remember after Frederick in 79' we did without power and water
for a week. I'm not sure what they were thinking building a city below sea
level, but obviously their thinking was flawed. I hope they don't let them
build it back the way it was. I've been to New Orleans, and it can be alot of
fun. It doesn't look like it will be again for awhile. I just hope they change
the codes before building back. They did that with certain areas here, and it
makes a difference.
We have decided to buy a RV as soon as we can. I'm not going to stay for any
more storms. It could have been us, and I wouldn't want to part with my dogs.
We've got a lot of folks from the New Orleans and surrounding area in our state
park here. The other day, our headquarters issued the order to not charge any
people evacuating from the hurricane for the entire month of September (Yes, we
were charging, and yeah, it was stupid to do so). So, we're taking in everyone
and housing them here for as long as possible. Our local community is actually
working without the Red Cross's help. They pulled out of our area for some
ungodly reason, and now everyone in our town is working together to get food,
clothes, water, and anything else these people need. It's kind of rough
listening to people talk about how they've got nothing left to go to, but I
usually try to get them smiling or even laughing when they leave our park
office. Heh..in fact, it kind of makes me feel all warm inside whenever I hear
someone say "Thanks so much for your help."
That's awesome man! I like your attitude, and the fact that you try to
cheer them up. I haven't figured out what is going on with the rescue services.
Everything seems to be disorganized, but I think it is great that you are doing
what you can. Appreciate it.
