I know some computers let you push a couple of buttons and then you have your
screencapture but my computer gives me this black box and I have to download a
program to take screencaptures. I had to download EZV Video Capture but my trial
ran out and I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a screencapture program.

If you use media player classic, it has a screen capture embedded in it. I
don't know if you are trying to capture a cap from a video of from game play,
but I use it. It is free

The problem with normal screencapturing (using PrintScreen button) is because the videos usually are run in Overlay mode, which somehow prevent this.
I would recomend Virtual Dub (a linear video editor) which can save to *.bmp, *.tga or *.png or Media Player Classic which can save to *.bmp or *.jpg

Fraps is also a good choice for capturing screens and video from games. Plus the trial never runs out.
