I need help with my research.. I need to do some presentation about movies that has psychological aspect to it for my psych class...Some examples are:
me myself and Irene= about MPD (or dissociativ disorder)
born in the 4th of july= post traumatic stress disorder
whats eating gilberts grape=autism
and so on..does anyone have any other ideas??

..Sybil (1976) - Sally Field plays the role of an MPD patient, Sybil. I had to watch this movie for one of my classes.
..A Beautiful Mind (2001) - groundbreaking depictions about schizophrenia
..I am Sam (2001) - Sean Penn plays the role of a man with a mental age of 7

[edit]

..As Good As It Gets (1997) - Jack Nicholson's character suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder
..Nurse Betty (2000) - Renee Zellweger plays the role of a woman who becomes amnesic after witnessing her husband's brutal murder, and takes on a new identity as a nurse
..The Three Faces of Eve (1957?) - film based on a real woman (Chris Sizemore) who was diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder (same as MPD)
..Good Morning, Vientam (1988) - Robin Williams himself is diagnosed with bipolar disorder.. here he plays a manic DJ
..Rain Man (1988) - an 'autistic savant' ^^ (played by Dustin Hoffman)
..The Tic Code (1999) - story of a boy with Tourette's disorder
..Conspiracy Theory (1997) - Mel Gibson's character is typical of those with paranoid personality disorder
..Silence of the Lambs (1991) - Hannibal Lecter (Anthnoy Hopkins) would probably be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, though that's not what the film is about ^^;
..American Beauty (1999) - Annette Bening's character shows characteristics of Narcissistic personality disorder
..Awakenings (1990) - based on the true story of patients who had contracted encephalitis lethargica ("sleeping sickness"), exhibiting extreme signs of Parkinson's disease.
..Lolita (1998) - pedophilia

^^

Girl Interrupted (Girl that's misdiagnosed? She make friends in psychiatric ward...)
Boys Don't Cry (Girl boy girlboy girl boygirl)
Silence of the Lamb (A canalbalistic Psychopath....)
A Clockwork Orange (Aversions and ... yeah.....)
Memento (I forgot what this one was about...lemme look at my polaroid...)
The Sixth Sense (The kid sees dead people)
Patch Adams (Robin Williams, a psychiatric ward, what more is there?)
Rain Man (Autism I think, haven't seen it in a long time. xd)

;) I hope that helps.

well umm, if that's what u really wanted to hear....a movie that wasn't mentioned is "The Butterfly Effect"...its like the unability of a child to last that one moment of birth...it also talks about giving up after a lifetime of one moment ;)...if u watch it, u'll know what i'm talkin about,,,but be careful, u won't understand it till the very last moment! Ashton Kutcher stars in this!

There's also Identity...it talks about a person (won't tell) that has done a series of serial murder in one night! and doesn't figure that out until his phsyciatrist tells him that when he's in the hospital, and is about to get a death penatly for it!

hope that helps, even if it was a tiny bit!
see ya around!
Leo

Pi - It's a mathematical, psychological horror movie. (I guess other mathematics movie would fall under this as well XD)
There's a new psychological thriller movie that'll be coming out this month, Flight Plan (I think that's what it's called).

Got a few more that weren't named before ^_^

The Lawnmower Man - Messiah Syndrome
Fight Club - Multiple Personality Syndrome
Fallen - Doppelganger Syndrome, Paranoia (to everyone except the main chars)

i was going to say "fight club" but someone already said it.

youre psych major too?? how nice..

I would try and go for "Butterfly Effect" Melobrust Sempai. The film is about a psychological disease and since the victim is a low social class member, It adds the depth of the movie.

The other movie I would like to propose is "Civilization" Played by Robin Williams. It is an intriguing film about social pathology.

The other one I would like to propose is Patch Adams, about the power of positive thinking, I used to relate this to Leo Tolstoy's theory and his book "The Polar Bear and The Butterfly"

I wish these can help.

"Jack." It's mostly about a physical disorder in which this boy Jack (Robin Williams) whos bady ages 4 times his age. While it may seem just like a physical disorder, in the movie u see how Jacks mine is damaged and confused by his rare disorder.

have anyone here seen prozac nation??

Try the movies with the cube, including pinhead... the guy with the pins in his head, gothic looking fellow... It will be a treat if you can comprehend different dimensions...

sorry not familiar with the movie...whats the title? is it new or old movie?

i just watched one called "high tension" ~ its a pretty good psychological horror type flick ~ reminded me of this thread after i finished watching ~ wow almost 8 weeks old ;p ~ there's a band in the movie i like too ~ muse ~ kinda interesting

i dont know if this has mentioned yet, but "jarhead". to me, the best phsychological film about the war, if there is any that came out. the story is more on how the soldiers are effected due to the war than it is an action movie
