Ok, I know many of you have been to or are still in college. I'm going to be
starting my first year in ~2 weeks and I was just curious what to expect (and I
also want to hear any funny stories of your first days in college). I'm really
excited to be leaving home and yet a little apprehensive cuz I don't know many
people there beyond my roommate, who luckily is my best friend.
Well, I went to a community college since I didn't want to move away, but I had
no idea so many of the people I went to high school with would be there. So I
ended up knowing a lOT of people already on my first day.
The beginning of college life sucks quite frankly. For one, everyone just wants
to party and get drunk (especially when they dorm in the school). Lots of people
pick up smoking at college, as well as driving fast/reckless (all because
they're showing off). When you look back on it 10 years from now, you'll
definitely regret some things that you did :P What I hated most were the girls;
they were damn hot, but every single one of them smoked (which I find very
unattractive). Nothign worse to me than seeing a hottie light up. But I
digress...
College teachers for the most part are actually friendlier IMO; you can make a
lot of teacher friends, which make some classes/assignments easier.
Since I didn't dorm, I don't really have any funny stories to share; I just went
to classes and went back home afterwards most of the time (since the school was
only a 10 minute drive from my house).
i wish when i go to college or university that i will know many people but i
still have one more year of high school to go then i will be in college...im so
scared
I first went to a community college and it felt like i was in high school again.
I ran into old friends and all they wanted to do was skip class, pick up
chicks(tried anyway) or want party all the time. thats okay ONCE IN A while not
everyday. I ended up quitin' that school and going to a private technical
college and studied got my degree this Feb.
As long you put your best effort in all your classes you'll be fine with your
professors and there's plenty of help with your studies all ya got to do is
ask.
Just like sonryu says what is up with so many girls and smokin?'(yuck) Don't
know bout you but I aint't kissin' no ashtray. No worries man just keep your
nose in the books don't slack off and you will do just fine
Basicly my first day went along the lines of meeting/getting to know your
roommate and unpacking everything. The first day is quiet and getting to know
where everything is. Now the first day of classes is nuts, trying to find all
your classes, meeting people and such. But its fun.
The first thing I want to say is when you start you college life, get the most
out of it cuz it goes by hella fast. I'm going to start my third year and it is
incredible how fast it went by. You should except to have your sleep pattern
all messed up, and except doing things you wouldn't have done before (good and
bad). If you not a party person, I still suggest you goto at least one frat
party and house party. Besides all the fun stuff and the
"freedom/flexibility" you will have, college material takes a lot of
work to get down. Depending on what classes you take, you will see that it is
normal for a class average on an exam is less than 60%, and that the professor
assigns more work than anyone can handle. With that you will learn to workship
the curve, the one thing that keeps us students from failing. good luck!
University is fun...but the workload is crazy. If you think that you're getting
a lot of work in high school, think again, because the workload in uni is much
more.
