Snake looks alot older because of the accelerated aging effect that he gets from
being a clone of Big Boss. Theres heaps of theories and answers at gamefaqs.com,
and obviously other big game forums.
I've seen the screenshots and articles in game magazines, and i must say, it's
great. The graphics are just plain awesome.. is it true that the trailer in TGS
2005 wasn't a CG FMV but the in-game graphics?

...um... I would have guessed that the natural aging
process over the years made him age. ...wild guess though. :P
Snake's getting older, and I believe they were trying to "pass on the
torch" with Raiden in <i>Sons of Liberty</i>. Not enough of a
developed fanbase though, Snake's just too cool, and Raiden... eh, came across
as kind of wussy.
i loved Raiden though, nothin' like doing a nekkid arial to confuse the Tengu
Guards. ^_^

I heard it kicks ash, but I never got around playin' it.
But from what I've heard, it seems like an awsome game, and what's this about
Snake gettin' older.

When I first saw the intial trailer from IGN I was shocked to see Snake so old

But it makes sense since clones age faster and I think Konami is doing this so
show how their graphics can go hand in hand with the new PS3 but that's just me.
I mean c'mon look at the texture of the skin (especially on the HD
trailer).
And older Snake will take some getting use to but graphics wise this game is
something to look forward too. Can't wait till it comes out.

future instead of further into the past BUT HOLY FREAKIN GOD. Snake is so
freakin old or it could just be hideo kajima playing everyone's head and will
release a completely different looking metal gear game.
Any real MGS fan can understand the appearance of Solid Snake. It is his
accelerated aging that is making him so old. Not because this is really far into
the future (well it is, just not that far from Big Shell), because when you see
Otacon, he looks the same as he did in Big Shell, just better graphics, and he
hasn't shaved in a while. So yeah.
Also, people that are confirmed to come back, Vamp (dunno what's his deal in
this), Meryl (yes, she didn't die, for those who got the crappy ending MGS1 like
me), Raiden and his kid (maybe he'll be cooler in this one), OceLiquid (hmmm...
I bet its Liquid, no Ocelot, no no, its Liquid, or maybe its both), SOLID SNAKE
(no surprise there), Otacon, Big Boss (or at least his corpse... hehe, I think
Solid is gonna continue where Liquid left off so he can get rid of this
accelerated aging crap), and Naomi is back believe it or not.
There are two reasons why Snake is old. The first is because he was cloned from
Big Boss at an old age, so Snake ages much faster (of course). And the other
reason is because Hideo Kojima felt that anyone could make smooth faces like in
Dead or Alive (I love DOA by the way), but a real challange was the face of an
old man i.e. an old Snake.
Hideo stated that Snake would not die in this installment, but he wanted to make
it so that everyone who hated Raiden in MGS2 would feel sorry, because he's
going to be a badass.
Does anyone know why in the trailer there was the message something like
"In a battlefield that could be found anywhere"? some dude speculated
that MGS4 would take place in VR since it is so far in the future.
Does anyone know what the theme of MGS4 will be?
