Well this is a question to make me feel a little better and to see if the
effects on me are just my fault or whether it's common. Tell us the GOODS and
BADS in your life as a result of anime
THE GOOD: I feel anime has fairly well affected my life and because of anime i
have become a MUCH happier person. I feel it's made me more cheery and i don't
become stressed about things as easily. Also quoting anime out aloud is always
fun....you and a few friends who have seen the series something came from have a
great laugh and everyone else kinda giggle just because of the insanity of it
all.
THE BAD: A kinda bad affect it's had on my life is that a few people have come
to the conclusion that because i like anime that i have an asian
fetish.........which isn't true! Also I find myself watching anime series late
into the night when i should be doing homework...but i figure if it wasn't anime
it would just be games or something else.
good: The enjoyment knowing that there is a big enough fan base to support
multiple production companies/ knowing that because of anime I am a way better
student in my study of a foreign language (meaning Japanese) I'm actually trying
and wanting to learn!/ I am exposed to a different culture, all-be-it from a
televised interpretation of said culture/ I feel that I've invested in my
purchases of dvds and I can watch them whenever I want and so I don't feel quite
so bad about spending all that money!
BAD: I'm broke! Anime = $$$$$$$$$ And I do go on occasional "watch the
entire series in one sitting" binges. These wreak havoc on my sleep
schedule, though I try not to do them when I have prior obligations, like
homework, which means I have to wait!
good: a good conversation starter, source of music , it's fun , there's a lot of
it to see so i won;t get bored of it (at least not for a while) , boyfriend has
anime so it's not costing me anything so far...
bad: time consuming and feeling slightly lost cso i've not seen much (and other
friends have)
Good: Exposes me to the more unique people
Good: Gives me a little bit of fame that I can work with (I have over 250
completed series - the anime freaks at my school kind of flock to me for my
collection).
Good: Another form of escapism.
Bad: Time waster.
Bad: After watching so many animes, I am starting to get a skewed vision of the
world.
Bad: Squeaky voices are constantly in my head. Seriously.
Bad: Also gives me some bad fame (you know..those people...anime=porn <<;
/sigh)
Bad: Contributes to my hermitism.
Good: There's a lot of cool merchandise for anime.
Good: A huge variety of different types of anime makes it so there's always at
least one show that I like.
Good: Games are based off of it.
Good: Anime has inspired me to take up drawing as a more serious hobby.
Bad: Not a lot of people in my school like anime, so they think I'm strange. Of
course, they already thought that... '
Bad: Most non-anime fans that I know haven't seen any anime except for Yu-Gi-Oh
and Pokemon, so they think that all anime is like that- and therefore think I'm
"immature" or something.
Bad: I tend to get obsessed with my favorite anime- and my sister likes to tease
me about it.
Good: Makes me excited, pump up the adrenaline everytime
Good: Opening my eyes to new possibility and horrizon
Good: Discovering its potential to open up new market +) *money*money*money*
Good: I can learn new technique. Learn how the pro's done it
Good: Help to build up my nation Animation Industries that start poping up like
mushroom
Good: Spreading the knowledge (more like propagande actually) n' to remove
people the misconception about Animation.

Bad: Spending more time explaining to anti-anime, rationally, although they will
try to flame every chance they got, in the end manage to convert a few of them
=)
Bad: Giving me stressful days to move from Realism(Marvel/DC) to Manga
stroke.
Bad: Im only start seriously on Anime/Manga on Feb 2005=(. but better late than
never.=)
Bad: Goverment doesnt give enough support on building up Art and Design. soon
that will change. give it some time I'll show them.
Bad: Having hard time to find real hardcore anime fan to join the group and
support. they tend to be very shy and like to avoid contact. pleaseeeee dont run
away and hide like that. I need your support and help. =(
i say its all good for me, plus the storyline are better than most cartoons, its
taught me an important lesson, things in anime aren't always true then again it

Good: Develope my creative skills when I make some backgrounds on the
wallpapers.
Good: get a very good source of creative art, and awesome skill in draws, I
admire that.

Bad: Expensive, and as you all know, its true.
Bad: people sometimes make this relation: anime=porn.
But I dont care wahat other people say, I care for my self and anime keeps me up

Good: Opens mind to new (Most often rediculous) possibilities. Bad: Non-anime fans see the genre as kid stuff because they only see Y7 on TV.
Good: Entertaining and helps to start some conversations
Bad: Some people make wrong assumptions about anime.
Good: Made friends through anime.
Good: Worked in anime conventions = meet Japanese manga/anime/voice actors in person.
Good: Made me happy because I got some original sketches.
Bad: Money spent like you would not believe.
Bad: Can take too much of your time.
