You might have not noticed but almost every Gundam series has this masked guy!(I think...)
And that masked guy has a certain link to both the protagonist and antagonist... and in the end they go 1-sided either in the good side or bad.
What's with this masked guys? Aren't they being overused? I just read a thread about Gundam SEED Eternity and there it is again... some masked guy!
What's your opinion about this masked guy?

While it is not in every series it is a common thread with most of the series.

is gundam seed eternity a need gundam series? after gundam seed destiny???????

i think its because they have the same creators and its to keep some similarity between the gundam series

iono...i guess its the "cool" way to roll...i hope they change the format in gundam seed eternity

maybe because the creators just like masked guys hooking around the series. you see masked guys are quite mysterious in many ways so i think they added a sort of spice in the series making it more mysterious and enchanting. and most masked guys for me are handsome.

Why does this topic points to seed?

The masked character had appeared from the first Gundam 20 years back. It's a tradition. Like the ZAKUs, GINNs and the like. It is not a Gundam anime if these aren't there. To me, at least.

Personally, I really like the premise of having a mask man as the bad guy. It adds to the mysteriousness and an aura of superiority over the hero.

Though this premise was badly used in GSD. Everyone knew that Neo is Mwu.

Well... You do have a good point! And It is true that the masked guy in GSD was obviously Mwu! :\

Maybe they have already established that every Gundam series has to have a masked guy as a trademark.
Mask fetish? XD
As for the rumored sequel to GSD, somehow, I highly doubt it... >.> since there's supposedly an OVA in the works... and to be released next year to boot.
Anywayz, we'll see if those rimors are true or not.
After all, when there's smoke.... mausok! Hehe, j/k. *baps self for being so corny*

let's just say it's that thing in movies known as a trademark...

I think it's tradition to the series

hey that's interesting, I didn't know it was a common Gundam device.
While I only know the 2 from Wing and Seed, these characters had reasons to wear a mask,
so it's not just for decoration. :)

the gundam series need the masked guys its there trade mark now, without them there wouldn't be any weird plot twist.

i have no idea dude... iono i think its liek a tradition or soem crap

im telling you it adds to the mystery at least in gundam seed but in gundam seed destiny i was mad that mwu survived it was touching when he took the loengroen shot for ramius and died but no he had to come back with amnesia. back to the question i like having a masked guy it is interesting and you want to know who they are so it keeps you on the edge of your seat.

It's a homage to the original Gundam series.

yeah i've asked my fren tis question b4... it's like... everytime i c the masked guy in a new gundam series.. i can't help but rolled my eyes... sometimes they looked almost the same.. like in gundam seed & destiny.. but apparently they r different.. & somehow the characters can differentiate that they are different.. ahhh.. it's quite confusin.. & i really can't stand guessin is the masked guy supposed 2 b good guy or bad..

It's a form of tradition on their side. heh

I asked myself the same question after watching Gundam Wing (Zechs had a mask) and then seeing a little of Seed... must be their thing I guess :\

Actually using mwu as the masked guy in GSD is a real turn-off... We all thought he was a hero who died for his love... But then you'll just see him come out of nowhere. OX The way they used the masked guy in Destiny was really crap!
:pacman: :( >>> x_x :pacman:

I think I know why... It's because those guys in masks are clones, right? And clone age faster than the normal human being... Notice Le Creuset(?) always drinking pills? That's for making his aging go slower...

Char Aznable of the original Gundam is the first "masked guy"

i don't know the exact reason why they overused it in every Gundam Series (Some Gundam series don't have)

A masked guy gives a mysterious aura and power.... they looks cool too... :)

i think Masked Guys are the Mascots of Gundam series so it won't be confusing if every Gundam series have masked guy as a mascot.

To me it makes the show more interesting. I always curios what kind of guy is he or she lol
