Hello everyone!!! It's been along time since my last thread....
Well, I'm working in a group english project and it's about creative thinking.
The project has three parts: Brainstorming, The six thinking hats and Randon
Words. I'm doing the Brainstorming topic and my friends are doing the other
topics.
So, i want u to help me to find solutions and give me your opinions to solve the
following problem: "How to reduce traffic congestion on the
roads?"
The problem is that i should write at least 35 ideas... i know it's crazy but i
will do my best to collect the solutions...
Plz, i need your help and i will be thankful for every single opinion!!!
that would not work since there are so many loopholes and in doing so you make
the streets that much more congested. Honestly there is no real quick solution
for this problem. Living in California i deal with terrible traffic. Several
methods can be used to ease traffic. A) encourage more carpooling. B) create new
highways C) make longer raillines. While i know that many of these are already
being pushed they are the only real way in which traffic can be solved. OTher
than that there isn't much more.
How to reduce.... To make the analysis where most of all there is a proside. To
impose travel by that part of road; or to make so that people home came back at
various times.
One way could be to increase the price of parking places/lots... make it
expenssive so people will have to re-consoder using public transportation...

"walk to work day", i dont know if that actually exist but im sure
there was one to promote walking and not to use cars
I heard something like that too. In this case the day was called
"car-free". In Denmark this car-free-day was used a couple pf years
ago (I don't know if they still use now though). In some cities, once a week and
for a couple of hours, cars were not allowed. People could only use bikes, walk
or use public transportation...

Even more? Are you mad?
I suggest regulations concerning the amount of time a person may spend on the
road per day (hell if I know how to actually implement that idea into a
functional system though). There are too many lazy morons who think they have to
take the SUV to buy a candy bar at the supermarket down the road.
here in the philippines, we have a system called
"color-coding",although it actually focuses more on what your car
plate's last number is. cars with plates ending with 0-1 are not allowed to be
used on mondays, 2-3 on tuesdays, 3-4 on wednesdays, and so forth.. although
traffic here is still rampant, to be hones, it was reduced because of this..
also, the government is investing big money on light rail systems, and more
efficient super hi-ways.. hope that would be of help
Well in singapore the govt. made these checkpoints where there would be a reader
to scan your car...once u pass this reader, you would have paid $1 or more for
going in that direction...so because of this, the govt. put operation times on
these checkpoint...say 7am to 7pm in the night...so some road ways, if people
are afraid of paying more...then they would take another road making the main
roads less congested...and make more use of other routes which are less
utilized...
And about the reader, there is this machine installed in every car...so u jus
push in a cash card, (which you top up with money if you run out) so there will
be a slot to push in the card...then this machine will be linked to the reader,
which will deduct the amount to money on the cash card if a car goes by... Hope
that helped ^^
in the UK we have bypasses...so that if you dont need to be in the city you just
travell around it.......also...if you wanna be in the city....we got park and
ride schemes....you park your car and get a paid public transport into the
city.....also this stoips the amount of carbon dioxide entering the atmosphere
^^
I would say improve mass transit like buses, taxis, and rail systems.
Also, encourage people to walk or bike instead driving if they are going short
distances.
Maybe increase the price of gas and if needed widen roads and create
bypasses.
Also, encourage people to use side streets instead of only the main
roads.
Make other forms of travel more accessable and affordable. Have bike lanes
specifially for riding your bike, carpool lanes on the highways and make public
transportation safer and more affordable. I'm sure that would help solve a lot
of the problem. ^_^
your hignes i think there is a solution in peoples thinkitng and the way how
they live so if you won't less trafic you should stimulate the people to use
more public-transport so there wouldn't be needed so much cars on the road and
then there is something like to make that people go to school, job and so on at
the sam time and not one after the other
but one of my ideas make cars fly
will write if i get an better idea ....
My suggestion is to either find a different road to take, or to build more lanes
so there will be less traffic and also to add a carpool lane where only if there
is more than one person like they have in California. I apologize prince but
thats all that I can think of I hope it helps.
Well, most of the ideas I was thinking of was already posted
How about the correct timing for traffic lights to open, and the right time to
remain opened. For example, a road with 4 traffic lights, where the 2nd light
opens 20 seconds after the first opens (so when the cars from the 1st traffic
light arrive at the 2nd one, the light opens instead of them waiting for the
traffic light to turn green). The same timing should be set for the 3rd and 4th
so the car movement is smooth with stopping being a minimum. Kinda complex to
apply but effective I guess if properly set up.
Hope my idea was useful, and ganbatte Dark Prince on the project =)
Who said that raising gas/petrol prices would work? None of you seem to live
around the Los Angeles area. In spite of higher gas prices, the freeway system
is even more congested. I blame part of this on the increased aggitation of
drivers. They get into more accidents because their so pissed off.
One suggestion is to just be more curteous on the roads. My logic in this
simple... if traffic can be kept moving, there will only be slow downs, not one
big 20 mile parking lot. Bigger vehicles (say transport trucks, semis and the
like) should be given higher priority... and wasteful vehicles... Limos
espeically.... should be banned.
A little suprised on the first page, no one has mensioned the Automated vehicle
project, where computers make the decisions for the passengers and eliminate the
driver.

Hmm let's see now..... Well, mebe probhibiting the use of transport to nessecary needs only? like work and emergancies?
simple. introduce cheaper fares for public transport.

so far the best I can think of was to have the people disciplined. I mean...people are the ones holding the solution all along.

MY LIFE FOR THE PRINCEEEEE If The Prince increase the petrol cost the traffic will be decriesed
Just raise the gasoline's price and in no time, the number of vehicles in the road will be EXtremly reduced. Just like my country did!
Even more? Are you mad?

I think a good idea is to expand the road or make like fats lines in the highways.

what about of different times for the ppl that works or alternate routes for heavy transports, even less cars could work

why don't rather get rid of petrol, it'll help more

How about... have everyone drive motorcyles, and have the lanes skinnier?
*shrugs* It was the only thing I could think of that hadn't been said.
