I've recently done some thought about my own life... What I'd like to achieve..
and how I can improve on what I have already achieved, and I've thought of an
analogy of preparation in life and how its reflected in tennis.
Dunno if u'd think it makes sense... but if you have any others that you've seen
reflected in your own lives, or u've seen it apply to another's life or so
forth... then by all means post it.
Life is a lot like tennis... If you hit the ball too late, you won't ever do
well... in fact it might be enough to cause chaos and in certain circumstances,
cause failure. Thus pain.
To hit a tennis ball at the right time, you have to prepare early... to be able
to get what you want in life, you have to prepare for it... and by saying
prepare, I mean that you have to be ready to sacrifice luxuries in life, in
order to achieve the goal you set to attain.
Its the same for exams... if you don't prepare early enough, the ball will go
out... and thus, you won't do the exam to your potential and possibly fail...
but if you prepare it early, like a tennis player is able to prepare early to
hit the ball, then you are able to study hard, study smart, and get help, in
order to do to the best of your ability.
My life has been filled far too much with late hits... Its what I was... Until I
realised it one day playing tennis. Don't forget... life is kind of a game of
tennis too... think of it as a real slow game of tennis where we have a very
very excellent sense of anticipation.. because we are told what to do... Thus,
we have plenty of time to prepare.
I dunno, but if you have other analogies I'd be glad to hear them... you can
rubbish this off... I thought I'd just write this anyhow as something I feel
about in life. To me, that's how I see preparation for things in life.
If you train early, you will be able to be fit and mentally prepared for the
challenges that lay ahead in the sport you play... if you train very late and
little, then you will not be up to the task of lasting long periods of game...
geniuses like soccer Arsenal captain legend Thierry Henry, who scores upon
return to injury, are exceptions (oh and i'm not an arsenal fan by the way, i
just like watching football, no loyalty).
Nyway, dunno if this gets deleted :P well, hope ppl can take something out of it
(yea
i sound like some grandfather i feel now... haish!)
Usually I don't like analogies, because they're a little too simplistic. There
is always the different cirumstances and contexts, some of which can be
impossible to sum up.
But that's just me. I really can't stand to simplify anything, which is why I
can't at all understand people who's minds work in terms of black and white. My
mind usually has the whole spectrum, which confuses me even more.
But, ah, here I am, comparing minds to colors. It is analogy-like, isn't it? But
even though I might say that to get a point across... I don't like to live by
any rules.
sounds true to me! and don't worry about posting. you're in nobody's way, and
maybe people even learn something from it, or it could help them when facing the
same sort of problems!
I would think the spam lounge would accept almost anything anyway, almost .
The whole tennis analogy seems to cover all the general bases of life. Obstacles
(hard passes), having to prepare, hits/misses based on preparation; and of
course, strategy! People can come up with an analogy for anything from almost
anything these days. Why, I'm sure I could conjour up some analogy of life based
on the activity of these very forums. But it would suck. Your analogy however,
is pretty good, good job.
Your analogy is great Alex
Don't worry though.. this thread really does belong to the Spam Lounge xd
i like how you potrayed tennis as the general bases of life.
it really relates much. thanx alot.
