hallo everybody!
I have a question to make!
We here at Minitokyo and not only, love mangas, but is it possible for us to start a career as profesional manga artists in Japan?
All the famous artists i know are from Japan and i dont think thats fare, because there are alot of greate talents outside of Japan, of course you need to know Japanese but even then, is it possible?
Or is it suicide for anyone who tries?
Feel free to post your opinions,i would really appreciate it!

It is possible but its very very hard. There are very few people who get in the business because you need to pass a lot of tests in a certain publication group before you can get a break. But the best way to be successful is to produce indy art and get recognized. I know people who did this and they're pretty successful now :D

I'm also gona give it a shot with my brother in the manga biz...I know its hard but still I;m hopeful! :D

Yea its possible but its gonna be hard because a lot of people are trying to be one in Japan and for me its impossible because i really suck at writing and drawing.

It's hard to make our dreams come true.
Cause we are stuck between reality and our dreams.

To fulfill our dreams in Japan
of course, Japanese language is the most important.
and great art skills.

Not to say it's 100% impossible to create a career in Japan.
There are lots of foreigners hv good results in Japan.
Like Crystal Kay and others...

U just need a plan and effort to achieve those dreams.
Even though in ur own country it's also possible.
U just hv to find out how to do it.

That would be cool but i don't see that happning

that would be awesome but it sucks for me because i cant draw or write too well my friend is really good at mythology, drawing and has already won awards in my school for writing he is the best writer in my school and he and i are in 10th grade he writes lots of poetry and is so lucky but he doesnt like manga or anime damn it

well, it;s really damn hard to live a life of manga artist in japan....
firstly, you have to be good at drawing (absolutely), editing your manga with photoshop... etc
and, u need to do some research in horoscope and choose the best horoscope that fits the characters and the characteristics of the character.....-_-
futhermore, you need to hav a special part in your drawing style to be outstanding.........

for me, i also dream of going to be a manga artist in japan, but i quit cause there's a lot of super-talented-hyper-good manga artist there.....-_-
so, if i wanna be a manga artist, i will be one in my country.......-_-

well..when i was younge i dermead to work in japan for a mangaker^^'

but it looks very interestingo.o;...and of course hard...
and i think its not so possible to flyy over japan+get mangaker O.o;
well i try to study art...maybe if i´m done i can fly to korea and be mangaker..or drawing manwha>.<'

Well, a lot of people in the US became mangakas from the Rising Stars of Manga contest that Tokyopop has. I would love to be a manga artist but unfortunately, I have little talent. ;__; And as other people have said, it's gotta be tough. You have to have lots of talent and work practically 24/7. It would be fun yet extremely tiring.

Thanx everyone for posting your opinions!
Sure it's hard to become a manga'ka in Japan, but i dont think that it's impossible!
I figured that much out:
1st you have to learn good Japanese
2nd you've got to have a name, i mean you have better chances if you won some importand contest and got published e.x by Tokyopop or the American Shonen Jump (wiz).
3rd and i think that's the most important is, that you have a good and strong story! the art i think is not that importand, i mean look at Kazuki Takahashi (yu-gi-oh) his art work in the begining was terrible! or Kosuke Fujishima (Oh! my Goddess) I have the first volume Oh! my Goddess (also terrible art) final, there is Ken Akamazu (Love Hina) he's still not that good of an artist!
I can say that if they can do it, we can do it also! The good art will come with time (if you have to draw 15 pages in 6 days, you will get good some day)

What do you think?

It is possible but its very very hard.
