I just thought I would take a moment and find out if anyone actually remembers the old squaresoft goodies that, for me at least, define what squaresoft is really like at the core. Anybody still enjoying Chrono Trigger? Final Fantasy II? III? Secret of Evermore? Secret of Mana?

Well. That being said, if the mood tempts you, post here your favorite(s) and what you most enjoyed about them. Feel equally free to bash on them if there's something you really disliked, like *BASH* Final Fantasy II's LONGEVITY. That game takes waaaaaay too long to beat. ;)

I've finished Chrono Trigger over 5 times now and it still doesn't bore me, unlike many other rpg's released nowadays (which just get a nice comfy place in the closet, after I finished them one time).

I also have all the classic Final Fantasies (except the first two on the NES, they sucked big-time), Secret of Mana etc. .

So in short : I'm a real Squaresoft fan, and more specific fan of their old rpg titles.

I believe I have most of the Squaresoft games untill ffVII, and I really enjoyed Chrono Trigger and Seiken Densetsu 3.
My introduction to Squaresoft was by Secret of Mana, and after I finished SD3, I wanted to have more of the same develloper.
To be honest, I dont really liked FFI-FFV, I think it was because of the gameplay, I dont reallly like turn based fights and random encounters. But on the other hand I loved Seiken Densetsu 1 and their text adventure Radical Dreamers.
I thing Squares golden times were on the SNES, those games still rock!

Oh how many times I've thought that to myself. I just finished IceWind Dale II... and to think how many thousands of man-hours were put into that game... Oh my... and yet it is currently collecting dust amongst my three 100-cd spindles full of games and stuff. Oh my...

Yes I do I really liked chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 3/6.

Old squaresoft was where it was at with RPG games. I still have the original carts of FF 4 and FF6. Secret of mana was also awesome, I used to play with my brother and neighbor 3 way for some real fun. If you have a japanese SNES, I would recommend picking up Secret of Mana 3/Seiken Densetsu 3.

If only... That DOES sound nice though... I believe i will have to download an emulator. :D

FFVI and Secret of Mana are my most memorable games from my childhood...I still play them, I have the Japanese versions of the soundtracks, and I even still play them sometimes.

I liked Secret of Mana. It was the very first game I ever completed. I'm beginning to miss the old Squaresoft games.

Boo! How can people forget Xenogears!? That was a classic. One of the best RPGs I've ever played.

these are some of the games I liked from Squaresoft:
Vagrant Story = It's kinda like Medieval MGS and it introduces the risk meter.
Xenogears = quite fun since it has some anime clips in the game.
FFVII and FFVIII = two of the best FF series that I've played.

Final Fantasy the only game from the 8 bit era that doesn't bore me.
Looks at old cartridge and cries without an NES to play it on.

FF7, crono trigger, secret of mana, bahaumut lagoon(made in japan only), FF6, secret of evermore is also ok.

Final Fantasy 6 forever.
The others are good too, but they cant reach the art level of this title.

Anyways, if someone still have to do it, i suggest on playing FF:Tactics..... the old psx version, not the Game boy advance one.
It really worths in terms of fun and time needed to end it.

Heya,

Yes, yes I recall all of those games, and I recall running to our local grocery store pick up Final Fantasy. Yes, the orginal. I also did this with FFIV, and that's where I think they should have ended the Final Fantasy line and done other products like Chrono Trigger, and such.

Cause my gripe with FFVI was this, middle of the game the story line goes totally borked. World or Ruin? Kefka (Yes, the best madman ever, granted!) just...all of suddent was able collect all of the magcitie (Spelling). Eh. Thus, where it ended there.

Xengears. 'Nough said. Always be my fave, and that's what RPG's should inspired to be, granted even budget cuts on Xeno even could killed what could been better, but at least the story for the most part stayed entact!

My thoughts,
Ali

Ahh Kefka. *villain theme music begins* Mmhhhh. I do love that game tons. Funny story behind how I got FF III and Chrono Trigger cartrages... They were the last ones not being sold by individuals not really soliciting themselves and who dont know what they're giving up... lol. The last cartrages in the city being sold in stores. CT for 1.99 and FF III for 2.99. Talk about cheap fun! ^.^

I played a lot of Secret of Evermore :)

First Squaresoft game I played was Knights Quest.. yes that game. Then I played Final Fantasy and then followed by Final Fantasy Adventure and Final Fantasy 2 for the GB(couldn't find FFL1 till later on). I still got FFL1&2 for the GB, FF3(aka6), and Chrono Trigger for the SNES. Those were good times.

i thought Seiken Densetsu 3 was the best game on snes ever. 6 different characters, 3 paired up storylines, a hugh worlds, great game play and class changes. i have playing that game so many times it not funny finishing it at least once with ever character.

other great game *quick digs thru his collection*
chrono trigger
secret of evermore
secret of mana
bahamut lagoon
FF IV, V, VI
breath of fire 1+2
romacing saga 3

played all these games so many times over and over again, pwoar! xD

Funny thing, I never played Xenogears or Bahamut Lagoon. *ponders* I must either find them now, or emulate them. ^.^

I'll never forget the beauty of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII

i still play final fantasy 6,7,8,9 and chrono trigger and chrono cross theyre all still good games
