Meer looks like Lacus because she had surgery to look & training to sound
like her. Others are drawn that way just because its the character designers

Ah that's true... Watch other anime with the same character designer like
Scry-ed (seems we have one druggie and the Archangel's captain there) and Soukyo
no Fafner (another Athrun)
the most interesting thing is seeing the differences between the two (well body,
Meer has a bolder pink and less curly hair).
I noticed that the characters looked the same as well, for example the vice
captain of the Arch-angel from Gundam SEED the new captain of the Minerva (cant
member her name) in GSD they look exactly the same apart from the hair, i kept
expecting them to spring sumin on me like shes her long lost sister of sumin
but i mean...stella and cagalli look alike too O.o and sometime i find that if u
combine athrun and kira they look something like shinn or maybe its just my
imagination (._.")

Aside from the same character designer, there is also a lot of cloning and DNA
modifications going on. Meer was changed to look like Lacus as much as possible.
We also go the Mwu, Raw Le Cruze, and Rei trio. At least there is some
justification for these people looking alike.
As for the rest, its just the character designer unable to draw different faces.
Hmm... I see what the dude means. But this series was designed from SunRise, and
they can design it in anyway they want, seeing as how their anime designs did
originate from themselves.

and then i went to check the profile and stuff and then i knew he was called
shinn
it just so happens cuz it's repitition, it's really hard with a deadline and
stuff to make sure that every facial feature is different for each character
some times they just overlook details and reuse materials in screen shots and
stuff...saves time and money i'm guessing...

Fafner. You will find Shinn and Kira and Arthrun in anyone of them. No joke!

its the artists' style. The only differences is the hair. I think the character designs are fine.

That's Hisashi Hirai's thing. If you see the other anime he worked on (especially Fafner), you'll see resemblances very easily.
