At my school, only like i don't know 5-10% of people at School like anime. One
day at school, some one mention they were searching for anime pics and say they
were ecchi. The whole grade head about this(knowing that i liked anime.)
for a while i was teased saying that anime is all porn.
(one kid already thought anime was just porn)
i got really pissed that i was the only one made fun of, not the other kids.
has this ever happend to you?
and also i want everyone to answer this qustion.

Not really.. but that really sucks what happened to you. Those other people are
just ignorant about anime and won't bother to look it up or ask about it.
even though i hate being made fun of i try to ignore every one else.
its really hard for me to hold in the emotions though
but i keep on drawing and watching
i wish i could stop the pain

i'm in asia, studying in an asian school that's most likely all-asian but i'm
still not safe from comments like that. some of my friends just can't stop
condemning anime even if their life depended on it. thankfully anime is
relatively popular in my school so nobody really cares much whether you like
anime or not. when i'm with my friends who tease me about anime i always try my
best to avoid the subject.

Luckily not to that extend, but I can relate. At our university there is a very
successful anime online society, but that doesn't stop some people from
generalising and assuming that anime = porn. Luckily, though, there are few
enough of these retards (what am I saying? I share an office with one ). I don't
even try to explain anything to them and tend to leave them to it. If they want
to anime-bash, I'll bash their own hobbies.
You have my sympathies, and the only advice I can gice you is, don't take it
personal. Anime isn't an religion (ooh- blasphemer!) so you don't have to
practice it in public, school, or wherever. This isn't like a religious
persecution (I'm gonna burn!) - people are like that, they tend to rip things
which they only have stereotyped info on.
Go dig up some dirt on those guys that rip you and embarass them back.
You really had to go out of your way to find any anime when I was in school so
it was not even an issue for me then. Now, anime is easily available so some
people may not take it kindly and tease people who are into anime which is none
of their business.
Actually yes... the same thing almost happened to me... and because of that,
before I never said I liked anime and tried to appear normal... but after a
while it was too tiring to pretend, I just admitted that I like anime and it
wasn't such a bad thing after that... ^_^ although even now... there are people
who tease me about it -.-

ALL the time i live in Venezuela people is SO ingnorant and retrograd yo wont
believe it, i dont care matter of fact i converted quite a lot, and tun them to
the anime-side, anime is a hell of a lot better than 90% of the stuff youll find
on TV or Movies.
From liking anime and manga i met a new friend who is a girl. i take a japanese
class in the office with her and another girl. now my friends think i like her
(the friend i met from liking anime) because we both like anime and we are going
to a japanese class.
Some people think its strange, but I don't care half of them watch boring soap
opera's like Eastenders and Corrie. At least the anime I watch have a good story
line and plot...
By the way, SolarMan you are not the only one taking Japanese classes..
I grew up in an Asian country and although none of my friends or classmates seem
to like anime, thankfully I was never teased by it before. I don't think any of
my friends actually think anime = porn before either O_O However, I am still
quite often teased by my family members for spending so much money on anime and
manga now that I've graduated from the university
My friends are practically all non-anime fans. I get teased once in a
while...especially by John Kim who thinks I'm obsessed with stuff like Yu-gi-oh!
and tries to make reference to an anime only to mispronounce it or not be able
to name it Yeah...I have anime friends...like...two out of ten

Didn't have this problem when I was in high school. Of course my classes were filled mostly with asian nerds (including me) so that's probably why.
This was before Tokyopop, ADV, etc.
