In the spirit of the Holidays--whether you celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa,
Channukah, something else, or nothing at all--I propose that we all be really
nice to each other and wish each other well and/or say something that's
important to you about whichever Holiday you might be celebrating.
For example: I happen to be celebrating Christmas this year, but I have recently
learned about the ancient Roman tradition of Saturnalia, from which the
festivities of Christmas were born. Unfortunately, not many people know about
the true nature of Christmas--that it came from so-called "pagan"
roots. The Christians of the Roman Empire sired Christmas from Saturnalia, a
long feast at the end of the year. The bastard holiday of Christmas only became
widely popular during and after the advent of Christianity when Emperor
Constantine embraced the persecuted religion around 312 AD. (In case you can't
tell, I really like Roman history...) Anyway, I'm just trying to spread
awareness in my own ridiculous way. Now it's your turn...
