just got my test results back. studied 1 month in advance 4 the test yet i got
60% for combine physic/chemistry , biology also 60% , comine geography/social
studies 60% , design and technology 80% (highest sub )and math my worst sub 30%.
help study tips needed !!!
Study at night, it's easier and quiet....when i do it, before fall asleep try to
remember all and make a revision some hours before the test.....And your grades
weren't so bad like u say....Maths is hard (*hides the sketches made at
classes*), don't push yourself too much and don't get in panic.
Yep ~ study at night before you go to bed cos it's easier to remember (of course
study a bit in day time as well ^^;)
Um.. well, everyone has different study methods...but for me personally, a month
in advanced is way too early
....but I got a bad memory =P Anyway....usually study 2 weeks advanced or so
depending on if I think I can handle it.
Tip is if there is a subject you think will be tough but you have other exams
that come before it, you might wanna skim through some notes on that subject to
briefly remind yourself ~ but of course give yourself plenty of time to study
the upcoming exam ^^
Oh and note down on a calender your exam dates so it'll be easier for you to
work out when you have time to revise.
*Rips out hair* UGH! Tests are a conspiracy against the dental industry into
getting you to buy useless appliances and pastes. =P But seriously, I'd study
for hours, only to go into the test the next day with a blank mind and very
pissed off because I knew I was gonna do poorly, and that I did.
I bet that really sucks.
Well I find the best way to study is to start about a week before the test. you
don't have to study for hours but review all your note and start to really study
at lest 2 days before the test. Every time I do this I do really well on the
test and remember everything so easely.
I'm sorry about all the hard work not coming through on the test. Had the same
thing happen to me with inorganic chemistry in college.
My study habits in college were far different than the ones I eventually
(successfully) used in graduate school. Your results will vary, but if your
current methods aren't working, maybe try the other suggestions here.
Two things I found helped me immensely: Creating my own outline of the course
materials, and reviewing the outline with a study group who did the same thing.
Everyone comes up with different outlines, and talking through the differences
helps you remember the course materials. Everyone shares outlines, too, so the
week or so before the exam you have three or four outlines to study, not just
one.
Study in the evening for sure.. you can put some cool music on too (no Metallica
or Stratovarius !)
You may ask someone to study with you too.. or take past year/month exams, do
them and ask someone (teacher, friend..) to help you correct them..

I find that I never have to study. That doesn't mean you don't stop. But I
rarely ever study and I score 80-90 on my tests and quizzes. I just pay major
attention in class. I don't know if I have some crazy luck or if it really works
but Listening closely to your teacher helps. Doing all of your homework and
reviewing it is also a good way to prepare. Most of the time in math the
formulas get stuck in your head if you do your homework. Research is a good way
to stick something to your mind. For instance. Let's say you have a question in
Biology. Instead of going to notes to see the answer. Go through the textbook.
The harder it is and the more struggle to find it, the more it sticks to your
head. For math I would suggest doing math problems without looking at the
formulas.Because then you become too reliant on the paper with the formulas and
it doesnt stick with you. But these things take 10 mins max for me. Or I just
incorporate it into my homework. So it saves me time and I get high scores.
Social studies is one I hate because of the terms and names that you need to
remember. All those dates. I usually just wing it and cram at the last 5 mins.
Then I usually get 80s scores.
I have the opposite probllem. I can usually do really well on tests without
eveyr having to study, so when it comes time to study for a test that I really
need to study for, a final or subject im not so great at, I cant make myself do
it at all. Of the 4 exams I took last semester I only studyed to Japanese cause
it was fun. But when I do get around to it, I do the same as everyone else here,
study at night, then review in the day before the test, it sticks really well
that way. And I write key points out on paper, because I remember things much
better after ive written/said them, rather than just read it over and over.
Well...I'm a bit of a nerd...but I tend to just write out revision notes and
rewrite them quite a few times. I'm quite weak at maths, so I tend to avoid
doing it...but I just do a lot of exercises and heaps of past test papers. I
had to do about 12 past exam papers for my psychology exam earler this
year...that was hell on earth...
...hum...also i've discovered that, teaching to someone helps to memorize, 'cos
u have to make the other person understand and then u can understand too (but
when u think one thing and it's another...well, this is not good )
"Gambaté" or something..... (good luck in japanese, forgot the
way of writing )
I don't think I've ever had that problem. Heck, last semester I didn't study at
all and got a A- average. Maybe you should try that, it did wonders for me! (As
compared to before when I did study and didn't do so well)

AHH! thats what happned to bunny!!!! -sobs- I studied for my finals all day and
night and weeks before and I got a 68 on my bio ;_; -sniff sniff- As for math, I
knew I didnt have a chance and I got a 48 ,
bunny feels your pain animemanic. If you want to do good, just make sure you
understand everything, dont think that you can figure it out yourself. How do I
know, because on everything else, I did good. Just died on Math and Biology,
just go to your teachers and review with them.
you should try making flash cards, questions on one side, answers on the other.
writing the flash cards helps to learn the material, and then they are an easy
study aid.

i cant believe you didnt take the obvious choice. CHEAT!
actually, the best thing to do is study between one to two weeks in advance, a little bit every day. it should help.

That happened to me a few times already. I believe that it's because of an improper way of studying.

Yes, and it is always math. God I hate math

yeah I though i studies pretty hard and did well in the tests get my score back and my UAI was 67% and that sucks.
