this is noticeable to everyone... but should anime be unedited on tv.
I think, the anime programs are not be edited, be have the right to enjoy the
uncensored TV, not only the anime series, but other types of programs.
What do u think...
I agree, but then again i dont want little tykes exposed to things like ehcii,
it'd be anyonning to have little kids talking about nudity and sex and think its
ok because it was on a cartoon. I just saw Spirited Away on Cartoon Network, and
i was shocked that they were showing scenes of a dragon bleeding, icluding blood
ozing from its mouth, well, anyway, thats just me.....
What do you mean by "unedited"? Because when you say that, it makes me
think of all the edited hentai and removed guts and gore.
As an example, I heard that the "unedited" version of Dragonball had
an incredible amount of blood, guts and gore. I believe that in western
societies, the majority of the Dragonball audience are small children. Small
children + blood, guts and gore is definitely not a good prospect.
I would love if all Anime that was on TV was unedited. I would kill to make that
possible! As I sit now over here in the States and deeply in love with the Anime
that I have now and constantly in the intense state of anticipation on when the
next will arrive I know what I am missing.
People would have to be blind not to see that Anime is violent, sexual, and very
graphic but that is why it is so great. Even as a seasoned Otaku I will admit
and admit proudly that there are still times when Anime shocks the hell out of
me with all that it delivers. I never want it to end, never want it to stop, and
never wanted it to be edited in the first place.
There are Animes like Naruto and Yu-Gi-Oh! Which I know for a fact they edit.
Just reading the Manga and going into sites like this tells me that much OH and
also the people that have had the luxury to see it as it was supposed to be seen
with all the blood, swearing, and inappropriate highly offensive sexual conduct
that can ever be thrown at you without holding back not even once. I envy these
people and would seek them out to kill them forsaking their damn good luck and
spitting on my bad luck for being born in America where everyone is so tight in
the ass they hardly register as ass holes. I would do mass genocide but then I
would really be the only Otaku out there and then there really would be no
demand for the product that I love so much...so I'll keep my doomsday devices to
myself...if only for the time being.
In the end all I can really do is wait and be content with what I have. To
complain and anger the powers that be can only end up screwing me over in the
long run...knock on wood and all that witch craft to keep the drug flowing in my
veins and though my mind and body...that is what I want, deeply desire, and need
with a force that would make God himself do a double take.
I am content with what I have but with secretly and silently pine for more
because when it comes to an addiction you just can't get enough. My cure would
be and by cure I mean dream and ultimate fix would be to move to Japan where I
can get it 24/7 yeah that is the dream and the wish and the hope, desire, and
most needed change to happen but until then I will remain happy with what I have
now. For to complain would damn my soul and leave me empty and going through
withdrawal...yeah that is my hell.
Yeah it be great if they wouldn't edited anime here in the U.S. Specially shows
that are for kids like Naruto and Yu-Gi-Oh! I mean if kids in Japan can watch
them then i dont see why kids here in the U.S. can't watch them. I mean even
Full Metal Alchemist is for kids in Japan and that has alot of blood and gore.
Although i dont think that one is edited since it comes out on Adult Swim. Not
sure.
i wish they would be unedited but the standards on what is acceptable for kids
to watch here in the U.S. are much different than they are in Japan. Maybe
someday that will change but i dont know.
well it can't be helped at all. There is a very big difference in cultures and
beliefs, and to introduce a new culture in to existing one will result in
CHAOS!, especially to children and some narrow minded people who imitates what
they see on tv (me included...). So in conclusion i am on the edited side(but
then again there are really some crappy editing they do) so i'll just get the
uncensored ones if i have money.
It would be such a pleasure to watch unedited Anime on TV..
here in Germany...it's even worse than in the US (from what I heard from
friends,...)
because our TV producers import the American versions of any Anime and then cut
them even more....-_-
Man, sure that sucks!
Ironically, here in Mexico where the culture is not as "liberal" as in
some countries (by that i mean some europeans countries and the US) the TV
conpanies are not that strict.
yes of course! we should be able to enjoy [as much as possible, i know there are
just some things we wont understand] what the japanese directors wanted his/her
japanese audience to enjoy! if you dont like it, just dont watch it
LoL just watch the fansub version of the series.. don't watch the DUBBED
AMERICAN versoin.. >< and yea i hate how they edit it.. even though i
havn't seen any.. but my friends complain.. and i just ask them why they are
watching it on American TV in the first place
You know, I always thought that our society was too sensitive. Do you realize
that a lot of the anime that has things that we would consider "racy"
or "unappropriate" could be considered a "kid's show" in
Japan. It's a difference of culture. They can accept their kids watching animes
with violence and death. For them, concepts like death and attraction to
opposite genders are just life. They understand that most people, even after
watching those sort of things, wont become warped (in my opinion, they'd have to
be pretty warped already to be influenced by cartoons).
No it should not be unedited it should be played as it is originally
made......but most americans do that now these days I mean by editing it and
then try to get consumers to buy the uneditted dvds.....
Well maybe they should make an unedited version and put that on late at night,
and maybe an edited version during the daytime for the kids. After all, these
companies are trying to make money, and this method would bring in the most
money.
While I'm all for not having any anime edited... the reality to the fact is the
two cultures are vastly difefrent. What they conside nothing such as words are
gravly punsihed here. Some anime's are just so bloddy as well.. which once more
children on this side of the world don't usually want to see at younger ages.
This is different from family to family and from child to child. For me they can
edit out as much voilance and change images to show less blood. You know what I
wish they wouldn't change... names and the basic script as well as cutting out
some episodes. I'll use my Rockman.exe.... which got slaughtered.... Lets take
Fireman.... which is changed to "Tourchman" for the show..... now its
not tha fact that it got changed but this... In the very first megaman game it
was ok to have Fireman... in the EXE games it was ok to have fire man... in the
old 90's megaman cartoon it was ok to have fireman but in this sereies they had
to change it and other names.
So let us set aside names for awhile... as we see how they cut out episodes...
now I'll use megaman again... as they cut a good 3 of them at the first of the
series. NOthing bad happen in them... they simple expanded on characters and
they cut them because it wouldn;t be exciting enough for people.
Those two I can handle... but changing of the basic script... I have seen
several animes where when they were done in english they got so twisted that
they lost all meaning to sceens or made no sense what so ever!
I can understand why they would want to change words or some sceens but to twist
it so half a anime doesn't make sense... that is why I think it shouldn't be
edited as it is some times.
I believe that anime is in many a ways an art form. I think it is very unethical
to edit a piece of art to apeal to a specific audience or to prevent a certain
section of the population from exposure to "inappropriate" materials.
This is the sort of thinking that wants nude paintings and figures removed from
museums. Anime is not for soley for children. It is not the same as a cartoon.
It is a parent's responsibility to be aware of what their children are watching.
I don't believe that it is at all correct for American TV studios to edit anime
to be "safe" for consumption on a general basis. While I realize that
while editing movies and such for TV is actually normal, I feel like in this
case the audience is being cheated out of the most important aspect of the art.
It is particularly bothersome to me because studios rarely release unedited
versions. As least with American productions, I can purchase the
"complete" show if I spend enough money...
I'm against it because it ruins what the anime developers wanted us to see.
I'm with it because I don't like the idea of kids being exposed to ecchi and
other stuff as well.
I guess maybe a channel should broadcast mirror channels, one edited and one
unedited. That way, a person can specify whether he wants an edited or unedited
show. I guess it would be more expensive for the channel broadcasters, but that
way it would better suit the audience.
OR a system where a person can enable/disable editing in a speciric
way.
Bleh, I feel like I'm going round in circles. Hope you got my point though =)
Editing out language and some violence to make it more accesible to kids is fine
to me, but I absolutely hate it when characters names are changed, and when they
change Japanese culture references. I was actually pretty surprised that words
like 'sensei,' 'kunoichi,' were left intact in the US TV version of
Naruto.
If a series is going to be edited at all, then whatever company is editing in
the US should release it on DVD uncut as well. I know it would probably be
pretty expensive, but it would be worth the extra money in the end.
I should be and if we were totally uncensored just put the show at night so
people wont complain that this type of stuff shouldn't be shown in the day time.
Somehow being exposed to much violence and gore, it doesn't affect me much. But
then It won't be healthy for little children to be exposed to such
presentations. It could be harmful for them in a way, if they get used to see
people dying, they might think that killing is normal and might turn into
murderers when they grow up. If they would be ever allowed to watch such shows I
think that they should be given proper guidance.
So I think that anime should be edited, in a way that it's not too edited, just
to filter undesirable scenes in the anime without affecting the quality of the
anime. Sometimes TV companies go too far in terms of editing an anime. A 30 min.
show would only last for 15 to 20 mins. You would miss a lot when this happens.
Too much of something isn't good for you, also something that is not enough
could be bad too.
I just hope that if they would edit an anime, they would do so without over
doing it or the less. It will avoid fans like us, complaining about it. ^__^
this is noticeable to everyone... but should anime be unedited on tv.

Editing is a capital sin , aaaaaaaarrgggg!

In any case. Censorship = silly.
No it should not be unedited it should be played as it is originally made......but most americans do that now these days I mean by editing it and then try to get consumers to buy the uneditted dvds.....
