This may be much of a very stupid question, but I just have to know: In Final Fantasy 8, when you first play it, there is a video(like any other game actually) and the song begins with "Fithos Lusec Wicos Vinosec" and goes on like this for quite a long part of it. Does anyone know the language in wich these words are spoken?

I believe that it's in Latin. ^^

I searched in a latin-french(I speak french, so I don't have any latin-english dictionnary) and found none of these words

actually I think it's just some made up language used for the song or it's some form of Italian or Latin

I tried typing the first few letters of most of the words in the lyrics ( http://eyesonff.com/ff8/liberifatali.php ) into this online Latin - English dictionary: http://www.freedict.com/onldict/lat.html

Most of the words seem to fit with the translation on the lyric page, although it isn't the exact same word, but just a slight variation. I've no knowledge of Latin, perhaps its some grammer or vocab rule ? ^^

Liberi Fatali is in Latin:

Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec

Excitate vos e somno, liberi mei
Cunae non sunt
Excitate vos e somno, liberi fatali
Somnus non eat.

Surgite
Inventite hortum veritatis

Ardente veritate
Urite mala mundi
Ardente veritate
Incendite tenebras mundi

Valete, liberi
Diebus fatalibus

Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec

Yeah I had the same question a while a back ago. I studied quite a bit of latin grammar and none of the cases match the endings for those words. Although, the "os" endings is consistent with the Greek language. May be Greek?

i really like that song...

Liked the song. Can't say the same about the game though...

Yup yup I'm going to have to say latin. I love that song. however it's kinda weird blaring it. I get the weirdest looks.

its latin. if you watch the document on nobuo uematsu or the dear friend's concert doc....he explains his favorite piece of music

Soo, umm... for those non-latin speaking too lazy to go searching for a translation people (who i might add liked the game ^^) what the heck does it mean?
