As far as anime character designs go I have to say I have fallen in love with Tsubasa. The animation just flows so well and they all have really cutes outfits. Also I really think that the style they chose suits Sakura, Syaoran, Chii and every other character from their other series. Theres so many more that stand out in my mind but Tsubasa really takes the cake, heh.

So what anime do YOU think has the best, or your favorite, character designs?

I love Detective Conan best (also known as "Case Closed".) The art style is unique and the story is great. Something about it is just very eye catching to me.

Shakugan no Shana, because Shana is love

Bakuretsu Tenshi. It's a weird mix of spy/old west, and fetish club outfits that Ugetsu Hakua put together in his mind. Styled a little after EVA, but unique enough to be a fresh take on character theme. The CG/cell animation is pretty cool too.

I like Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo's character designs the most right now, although I think it's mainly because of the animation itself. It's just so unique, and I've never seen anything else remotely like it.

I really like Range Murata, so I love the character designs in Last Exile. I also really like the character designs in RahXephon. From more recent anime, I would say that I really like the designs in Samurai 7, Gankutsuou and Fullmetal Alchemist. Also, I like the Bleach design too :).

The characters in Peacemaker Kurogane aare well done i think. Bleach is also really good.

I like Fullmetal Alchemist, Tenjo Tenge, Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin, Peacemaker Kurogane, Ah! My Goddess, and Saiyuki.

Gankutsuou was done beautifully! Well, that's what I think--it's style was unique and well, different. Truly a masterpiece, I say. I also can't disagree with those that said Peacemaker Kurogane. Wolf's Rain, Jigoku Shoujo, Rozen Maiden, and Tide-Line Blue was done well too!

I will have to say yami to boushi to hon no tabibito and kiddy grade. The animations in them are absolutely beautiful.

Several, but I'll just list a few... ^^

- Naruto
The art is beautiful, not so much at the beginning but as the story progressed and Kishimoto got comfortable with the character designs and such. Something about their eyes and noses, I really love especially from the side-view of their faces. I also happen to like how not every character is beautiful, but the ones that are, REALLY are. ::Sasuke and Itachi and Kimimaru::

- Saiyuki
Unique and appealing. The characters are attractive, though sometimes a little too skinny for me. But overall, I love this art style. ^^ It's refreshing and creative.

- Angel Sanctuary
BEAUTIFUL. I love the way Kaori Yuki draws hair and her character's faces. They're all very beautiful, which can also be a good thing when reading a manga. ^^ The art is what got me interested in the show to begin with.

- Gundam Seed/Gundam Seed Destiny
Though they have similar faces, each character is unique for me, simply by expressions and posture, ect. The guys can be a little too feminine, but for the most part, they're all sexy. ^^ The girls are also pretty. I love their eyes a lot and Stellar Loussier is just perfect. ::Athrun, Mwu, Gilbert = smexy:: The art got better in Destiny but SEED's art is good as well.

- Wolf's Rain
Realistic but not quite. Gorgeous and with a mature look to it. I really love Kiba and Cher's designs the most. But everyone had personality.

- Immortal Rain
I love their faces and hair. ^^ This art has a resemblance to Naruto and AS, kinda like a mix of it. Their noses and mouths remind me of Naruto, but their eyes and hair is more like AS (though the hair is not as defined as it is in AS). It's a great manga with beautiful characters ::Rain and Yuca::

CLAMP and Murata are among my fav designers, but i couldnt choose a favortie.

Yakitate Japan, they have some pretty crazy characters. :D I also love the super-cute Pani Poni Dash characters! Pita Ten also has some super-cute characters. ^.^ Although, not an anime (well, they are working on one) I really love the art style used in the PS2 game Disgaea.

ERGO PROXY
when's the last time u seen a goth chick look hot?

In terms of aesthetics, Cyborg 009 had a great retro-look to it. Same goes for Metropolis.
Now in the category of cuteness, I love 2x2 Shinobuden's soft, rounded look is a step above the general angled look you see in most bishoujo-typed shows.
And if we're talking about specific artists: Range Murata, Satoshi Urushihara, and Yoshitaka Amano.

hmm, the character design that made the best impression on me is Kiddy Grade. The character looked very different than other characters i've seen from other series, looks...fresh, not to mention the outfits and the lipstick weapons that Eclair has.

Lets see. I like Bleach, both Burn Up W and Burn up Excess, Cowboy Bebop, Dragon Ball Z, Excel Saga, Fullmetal Alchemist, Inuyasha, Kiddy Grade, D.N.A. Outlaw Star, Sailor Moon Samurai Champloo, Tenjo Tenge. I cannot forget Gundam Wing, Vandread, Street Fighter V. The best character design in my opinion is Cowboy Bebop and Samuari Champloo. Though they are like the same character design, it is still awesome

FLCL... I LOOOOOVEEE the art... (anime) and regarding manga... well... there are tooo many to put them here...

Urusei Yatsura, I've just always been mad about Lum. The way Rumiko designed her was perfect from the start, in fact it was so perfect she used the character design again as Shampoo in Ranma1/2.

And characters designed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. Any one that's a fan of Gundam will know that name, and some of his other works like Venus Wars.

hellsing!
love integral sama!

kazuki and makubex - getbackers
ayame, kyo, haru, momiji and yuki - fruits basket
yoh and hao - shaman king
sanosuke, aoshi, kamatari, seijuro hiko and megumi - rurouni kenshin

i'd hve to say either inuyasha or dn angel but if i had to choose it would be dn angel

Sure, I like tsubasa too!
But I prefer Kuropi, Fye and Seishirou... also I like the desing of Yue (Card Captor Sakura)... Ikki, Radamanthys, Lune, Shion (Saint Seiya)... and more, but I don't remenber...
:)
