How do you feel about when people die in an anime? Me I think that in action and
animes with a more serious theme that if few of the "good" characters
die its sad but it also makes the series more emotional and draws you in, it
also adds a sense of realism and tension because you never know if someone will
survive or not. Though with me it seems that all of my favorite characters
somehow end up being the ones that die
ueah I think when the character died, it make the anime more emotional, BUT
sometime the writer make those character that shouldn't died end up dying. That
just piss me off. I hate those writer.
Woaaah! I feel sad but thats what type animes i love! For example Fullmetal
Alchemist most of the people in this animes dies ! Also ChrNo Crusade same thing
even Chrno died!
Also Rurouni Kenishin, the final OVA omg my heart break there! Kenshin died sick
in Kaoru's hug! But drama makes an anime one step closer to reality and the good
quality!
I like when characters die and the anime/manga turns dramatic, but it deppends
on the story and the characters. Also on the skill of the mangaka.
For example, in Fushigi Yuugi died a lot of characters, but the mangaka couldn't
do emotional or touching deaths; after the character died you didn't feel sad or
sorry for him/her.
On the other hand, there are mangakas that pull out some pretty dramatic deaths,
like Clamp in X/1999 or Yuki Kaori (the ending of Boys Next Door was sooo
sad...)
it is definitely sad when a good character in a certain anime or manga diess..
especially in last exile n scrapped princess seriously so sad dat i almost
cried... but i guess sum characters haf to b gone? but still its so sad... good
or bad guy...
the only death in an anime that made me really sad was the one halfway through
Full Metal Alchemist. And it wasn't just his death, but also the reactions of
those close to him. Even my sister, who doesn't even like anime very much, just
happened to be in the room with me when I was watching the funeral scene, and it
made her really sad. Then again, she can be a pretty emotional person. ^_^
I think is something goo, specially when you like a character, gives a twist,
example in Gundam Seed a good and cool character dies, and you don't expect
that, same happened in Fullmetal Alchemist, what to say in Cowboy Bebop, makes
you to like much more the series or the movie
i guess it really depends on how significant is the death to the storyline
because of a minor character dies then it wouldn't be that much of a twist to
the story, but if a major character died, which most of the time for me is
pretty unexpected it makes the story that much better for me mainly because of
the twist that happens with the death...
It's sad but in some animes it just wouldn't be right without a certain person
dying. Like for instance when the story foreshadows and the story is about the
person's fate to die. Even though it's obvious that it's going to happen, it
still makes me sad. And then I lie in bed crying that night =) lol
I think deaths are necessary for an anime about war and battle to be considered
"good" in the end. I think, as Truggy said, deaths, especially of a
main (or relatively main) character, really draw the audience in.
Of course, too little deaths or insignificant deaths don't do anything, and more
often than not, too many deaths makes an anime too wierd. But the manner in
which a character dies is also extremely important. How a death is portrayed
will really affect the significance of the death, and the impact on the
audience. Whenever I see an extremely emotional death, it's really
heart-wrenching, and makes me think about it for a long while.
As I said in another thread, the death of Maes Hughes, though a loved character,
didn't really affect me, because he just suddenly... died. No big lead-up, a
slight struggle but the single gun shot was simply too quick to affect me. He
didn't even die protecting someone, or with any friends there to witness, but it
was just a solitary death.
As for me I cry...cry my eyes out especially when it is someone I love like for
example I cried my eyes out and hysterically I might add when they iced Hues you
know from FMA. I cried when SPOILERS ALERT ALERT SPOILERS AHEAD!
For all of those that have not seen the end of Chrono Crusade please stop
reading now and post what you want to post or go to another thread...thank you.

Chrono and Rosette die in each others arms...AHHHH then I stupidly went and
watched "Night if the Chimera’s
Cry" and that made me cry even harder. AHHHH only Anime can do that to me
though...I am so blessed and happy.
There need to be deaths to make good plot lines half the time... though, make no
mistake, some people just should have lived! *sobs over Kaji in Evangelion*
in the anime Gantz pretty much everyone died. the only person who survives is
kei kurono. he wasn't the only main character but at the end of episode 22 (i
think it was 22 or 23) he was the only person to survive. i don't know how the
story will continue.
What kyokujitsu says is true how a character dies is really important and also
another important part of a death is the other characters reactions to a death.
I have found even if i didnt really care for a character that if they died for
example in someones arms and a lot of others were sad that the person died I
start to sympathise with them and i end up sad that they died. But with animes
like gantz were characters constantly die you just come to expect them to die
and dont really get attached to them the deaths just stop affecting you after a
certain point.
ohh, kadaj died in the ff7 movie! It's just so disappointing: there wasn't any
sympathy to him! I could even find any information because he died in the movie,
it's not fair.
I think in order for an anime to be good, at least one of the good guyes have to
die. It adds more sentimental feeling to the anime. I just don't think an anime
is complete without some significant death. But the death has to be memorable
though in order for it to have any meaning. Like at the end of cowboy bebob. I
bet you guys never saw that coming.
I think that good or bad guys dying in an anime is sad all together but I also
think it draws people in and can lead to great twists and turns in an anime's
story line.
To tell you the true only one death in anime
actually affected me and that was Wolfwood of Trigun. I don't reallly know why
but liked that character and I think I cried a little seeing the way he
died.
What really is bad about character deaths is that they make you care for the
characters before they die and that makes the story better in my opinion. When
the bad guys die, the viewers don't think much of it but when the good guys die,
you get emotional, if it's really sad...
I despise in action anime when no one dies. Like bleach, for example. ugh, if
the character is so obviously dead, and they come back, it really detracts from
the quality of the anime.
of course your going to be sad if one of your favorite characters die. Take me
for example, i cried like crazy when bumble bee died in original transformers,
but this is what makes good animes great.

I hate when the good gusy dies in an anime series. For example Spike, WolfWood, and Huges get killed by someone they know.

well....i hate it when MY favorite dies in an anime, man, i remember when i thought subaru died in X
damn, im just glad to know he didnt die
