Hello everyone! Could you please tell me what are the anime and manga magazines
that are available and how can I get them? I don't know many... I see that there
are many scans of Megami Magazine in Minitokyo... Is this the most famous? It
sorts out every month? How can I buy it? What other maganizes are there? In what
languages? What do they offer (posters, exclusive drawings, a cd with anime
music and videos)? here in Portugal there aren't many available. I just know and
have bought four magazines, called Minami, Shirase, Dokan & Anitype. Anitype
is the best one, with the most recent series. The others focus more on the
classics, like Rurouni Kenshin, Sailor Moon, Digimon, Slayers, Neon Genesis
Evangelion, etc...
Thanks for your help!
If you were based in the U.S. I would've recommended signing up for TokyoPop's Takuhaionline (I'm
not sure if they ship out to Portugal). It's a free manga preview mangazine sent
out every season or so (~3 months) for both freshly translated to English
series, and up and coming U.S. manga style artists. The website also has a manga
preview section but I doubt that will satisfy you enough.
For other magazines I'm at a loss, as manga volumes are expensive enough as it
is that there's little left that I (a poor college bum) can spare for a
magazine.
um, I'm not sure where you are, but sometimes I can get my friends to share
their magazines with me. Usually, there's a lot of Newtype and Newtype USA, with
a small sprinkling of Animedia and Animage for good measure.
You can just click on their name to see their Member page. Scroll the page down

I don't know how popular Megami Magazine really is, but its a Japanese mag I
would recommend if you mostly like female anime characters. It comes with
several fold out posters and sometimes it would also have free goodies like
trading cards or pencil boards. The mag pretty much keeps up to date on what's
new in the anime world in Japan. This is one of the sites that carry
it.
