Nowdays, I've heard bout bird flu things and also mad cow disease.. Do you dare
to consume meat products rite now? Especially bird's products.. Me, i tried to
avoid any meat products if i could! For health reasons of course!
I have done a lot of research on becoming vegetarian and decided to become one
(13 years ago). I won't directly try to persuade anyone to stop eating meat, but
if you do the research yourself you will also find that eating meat is just
wrong... for a lot of different reasons. I haven't eaten any animal flesh or
by-products (I do eat eggs and cheese) for 13 years and am extremely healthy.
Bird Flu? Mad Cow Disease? Never really scared
me very much. I was taught at a very young age to be extremely careful with raw
food or like my father use to say, "Prepare food properly and cook it well
because the dead have a habit of F%cking you over from the other
side."
I still eat meat, but if bird flu comes to the United States (which it probably
will), I'll stop eating chicken for a while until there's a dependable
vaccine.
As for eating beef, I won't eat it unless it comes from the local butcher shop,
because they only sell the meat of grain-fed Ohio-bred/raised cattle. It's the
same with the pork, chicken, and turkey they sell. If the beef comes from the
supermarket, I won't touch it.
I'm sorry for this late reply!
I have some problem getting into this website.. Phew! I did
managed through it though..
Well, everyone have their says and rights to choose whatever food they eat.. We
can't control someones appetite don't we?! So, it's up to you whether to choose
to go for meat or meatless.. We mustn't add differences between a omnivore and a
herbivore..
The point is we choose to eat the best for ours health. A man with wealth is
worthless if his health is deteriorate and what if he got the best medical
treatment but still cannot gained back his health..
Nevertheless, health is the most important and the most precious thing in ours
life.. and no ones should take it away from you but yourself!
Lastly, please take care of yours health.. Whether you're vege or not it's still
the same to me! ;D

PS: It is known fact that Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian, so how does that make
you feel all you dumb plant eaters?
Ok! I get what you mean but one thing i wanna to tell you is that I'm not a
vege! I said that i try to avoid meat products not totally avoid it..
If in my meal there isn't something that wasn't once alive in it, then it isn't
a meal to me. Honestly, you could point to a chicken and say "that one has
bird flu" and I would fry that bad boy up and eat him right there. Fearless
and stupid... bad combination.
Well you won't have any problem with bird flu if the "meat" is cooked
so... but I guess that I'm quite lucky to be in a place where these risks are
more limited(well fortunately it has some advantages to be in a little place
remote of lot of things).
I'ld call that extreme paranoia. Everything everywhere is diseased and dangerous
for your health unless you live very, very carefully. Eating with your hands is
probably going to be more dangerous than any meat products you'll run across,
likewise if you don't get enough protein it'll be equally bad for your health so
you better be at least substituting something else for your meat.
As for me I acknowledge all these things but live with good karma, if somethings
going to hurt me or kill me the food i eat is the least of my worries, likewise
with my apetite the suffering ( XP ) i'ld go through not eating half the things
i do is not worth the one in a billion chance my food MIGHT hurt me
I love animals love them to death I love them more than I love the humans. I'm
not afraid not even one little bit of any kind of animal big or small but when
it comes down to it I need my meat and if it is prepared correctly then there is
nothing to fear but if your body isn't strong enough to fight off everything
that happens to happen to it when it should then maybe you're popping too many
pain relievers and taking too much medicine.
Ok, my turn! This might be long, you've been warned...
I think saying to yourself "I won't eat any meat because there's a chance I
might get mad-cow, salmonella, etc." is the same as saying:
"I won't ever drive because there's a chance I might get in an accident
because somebody's not paying attention, drunk, etc."
"I won't ever drink coffee because there's a chance I might spill it on
myself and get burnt"
"I won't ever go swimming at the beach because there's a chance I might get
stung by a jellyfish or bit by a shark"
"I won't ever get on the Internet because there's a chance someone might
try to upload a virus on my computer"
I could go on but y'all get the idea. Basically, if you cut everything you like
out of your life because there's a risk involved, you're not going to like life
much after a while. There comes a time when you take what precautionary measures
you can, and take a deep breath and throw the dice.
As far as meat goes: cook it thoroughly, and if you're going out for it, get it
from reputable restaurants, not from the guy on a streetside booth selling it
for $1.99. And if there's any hardcore vegetarians out there that think it's
morally wrong to consume any kind of animal flesh, make a thread and send folks
the link! I'll certainly chime in.
Iguess the main thing is to make sure you get a properly balanced diet. That can
be accomplished in many many ways (just go ask any nutritionist). As for
diseases progating through food well....

This is true for viruses (think about fevers as a response to viruses) but mad
cow works different, thats why they tend to destroy the animals that are found
with this disease. Also remember there are alot of plants and animals out there
that make good meals but a few of them do require special prep or only eating
only one part of the plant because the rest of it could make you seriously ill
or kill you.
But don't worry, after all you take a huge risk just by stepping out your front
door.
As long as that specific piece of meat isn't infected, go ahead and eat it.
It's like avoiding people like the plague because one of them might have aids or
something.
well not mad cow, cause i just ate meat last night in a all you can eat Japanese
cuisine and its not really that serious. The whatever bird flu thats been
spreading and killing the birds, yes depending where i am at. Since im in Canada
i don't feel too threaten by it but next month where i'll be going to Hong Kong
then yes, i won't eat any chicken. It depends on the location and what disease
it is. Different disease have different precaution to make
I don't like meat; not because ecologism, or animal rights, it's just I don't
like it much although i eat once in a while cured ham and highly-seasoned pork
sausage (or so says the dictionary it's called in english...)

How bout you?
well, i dont know much about all that sort of health thingie...but yes, id consume meat because of health reasons too!

That's one of the funniest things I've ever heard. I think I will start using that as my reason for not eating dead animals! HA! Thanks!
i continue to eat meat... just have to be aware of things and know from where the meat comes from...

i have anemia which is related to an iron deficiency--if i dont eat red meat, and lots of it, i would die
Dare ? That souns a little too paranoiac.

I'm too much of a meat lover to stop eating meat.
I will still eat it, I'm not very worried about it at the moment.
Can't live without my meat. I'm salivating just pictureing a nice juicy steak and some ribs.
